Douglas, we are just back from the beautiful island of Crete, i take my hat off to you for all your hard work and patience in tracking down a truly unique holiday which done us the world of good, the weather was just perfect, the hospitality and the warm welcome from all the staff at the Coral Hotel Agios Nicolaous i would highly recommend to your customers. More importantly you were very attentive and met all our needs, once again i am very grateful to you, as always you pull out all the stops. until the next time my friend a huge big thank you Leesa & Mike.

My family and friends have use the Barrhead Travel in St James Centre in Edinburgh for more than 10 years and have always had excellent service from them.

I like to support the smaller independent travel agents rather than the bigger players, so I used to use the Queensferry Road branch in Edinburgh.
The staff were quite friendly and they were ok with prices though they did make a meal of US flights for me a few times..
Due purely to fact that their boss Bill Munro is such a twit, I stopped using them and now use Jimmy Martin travel in Stockbridge, who is another local Independent and they sorted out a couple of trips for me with no problems.
Worth noting there are still quite a few small independent travel agents around if you look, there is more than just expedia!

I usually prefer to find and book holidays online these days, but if I do want to find out what is available by visiting a travel agent I will give these guys a shot. They generally try quite hard and will send you a handful of suggestions by email, really helping to give you a head start when looking to put a trip together - not just by forcing you to take their own flights like a larger travel agent but by piecing bits of the package together from what is available online etc. Can be good if you have a lot on but you can do this yourself if you like. Not the same as visiting Thomas Cook or one of the bigger agents. Worth a visit. Can be quite helpful. Friendly staff.

Barrhead Travel organised accommodation for us on a trip to Bangkok. The accommodation was unacceptably bad (absolutely awful). We did not check in and went and stayed somewhere else. We got no help at all from them. Barrhead would not return our email let alone our money. This was despite the accommodation saying that they would not charge us!!! My suggestion is that that you go to an alternate travel agent that will help its travellers when they are in difficulty.
