About Barry Mill

Enjoy the splash of the waterwheel and the sounds & smells of grinding corn in this picturesque 19th-century working mill.

Barry Mill Description

Our Mill is the finest example of a pre-industrial corn mill still extant in Scotland but besides the wonderful architecture & machinery and stories that live within, our gem of a nature reserve with walks by the Barry burn is open to all - all year for you to enjoy. Tickets; Child £4 Adult £5... Family (1 adult and up to 3 children) £10

For reasons of limited space, only one adult can accompany the children into the storytelling area - but we do expect that all children must be supervised inside or outside of the haunted tower. Recommended ages 6+

Barry Mill is nestled in such a beautiful setting, a place to leave the stresses and strains of everyday life at the gate and simply relax in peaceful surroundings. There's something about the sounds of running water and birds singing in the trees that's instantly soothing, and the grounds include a lovely forest walk, a mill pond, and a path by the mill lade leading up to the weir. A tour of the mill itself is fascinating and transports you back in time. The guides are full of both stories and enthusiasm, making the experience even better. When we visited in the summer there were families sitting on the grass with picnics, and children running about freely, having great fun exploring. In sunny weather it would be very easy to spend the whole day there, but I've been in all kinds of weather since then and have always taken something different away with me at the end of each visit. If you haven't visited yet this is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Attended music at the Mill for the first time and had a great weekend. Lovely setting and atmosphere x
