It's not very often you get a set of quad calves born and it's even less often they all survive. But this cheeky quartet born at Stembister in Toab at the weekend are defying the odds. Brian Omand - who farms there alongside brother Bruce and son Liam - says he was stunned when the three boys and one girl arrived. They're still to be named but suggestions are welcome.......

Today we’re saying cheerio to our much loved workmate Robbie Fraser who retires today. Robbie has graced the airwaves in Orkney for the past 19 years and we’ll miss him loads. Here’s the moment this morning when we surprised Robbie with a present that all his friends had clubbed together to get him.

The weather forecast for Good Friday April 19th...... It will be another dry day ahead thanks to an area of high pressure over southern Scandinavia, which has moved very little in the last few days. Any early mist or low cloud will soon disperse, leaving a mostly sunny day. However, the sunshine is likely to become hazy at times due to some wispy high cloud. The wind will be south to south-easterly force 4 to 5. Temperatures will reach around 13 Celsius, which is 55 Fahrenhei...t. The sea will be mainly slight to the west of the islands but moderate to the east. Tonight is set to remain dry with clear spells. It may become misty in places towards the end of the night. Temperatures will fall to 8 Celsius, 46 Fahrenheit. The wind will be mostly southerly at force 4 with seas becoming slight in most areas. Tomorrow, any early mist will clear to leave some bright or sunny intervals for a time. However, it is likely to become cloudier from the west with spots of rain. Temperatures reaching around 13 Celsius again, that's 55 Fahrenheit. Winds will veer westerly force 3 to 4. Seas becoming moderate in the west. East of the islands, seas will be slight. Sunday will be cloudy at times and cooler with patchy rain and a high of 10 Celsius. Sunnier and milder again on Monday.

A council decision to refuse a planning application to site four large wind turbines on land at Costa Head has been overturned by Scottish government. The application from Hoolan Energy was refused last year along another application for a development at Hesta Head in South Ronaldsay. The reporter to Scottish Ministers Malcolm Mahony looked at the Costa application and ruled that it should be allowed to go ahead. Mr Mahony concluded that " the scheme was likely to have a positive socio-economic effect at both local and national levels".
*******Breaking News******* The Hesta Head project has also been approved by Scottish Ministers - so both will now go ahead despite local councillors voting to not to grant permission.

A blue tent has turned up in a garden on Bignold Park Road. It's at the house right on the corner between the road and Grassick Court.
The folk there say that they reckon it might have blown out of a car or something like that.
