A nice surprise parcel arrived at Bella Mansions this morning. It contained two medals for Sandra Band and Gordon Dryden, won at the Scottish Marathon Champs which were held as part of the Stirling Marathon on 28th April.
Gordon won the Scottish Silver medal and Sandra bagged Bronze, both for the V50 category.
Congratulations to the both of you, that’s a fantastic achievement! 🥈🥉💜💜

Well done to the 48 Bella members who competed in the second club 3k track race on Wednesday 24 April. Even though many of us are busy preparing for Spring marathons right now, there were some fantastic performances on the track in windy conditions. The runners were enthusiastically cheered on by fellow Bellas before everyone went inside for a post-race debrief over sandwiches and cake. The membership of the club unanimously voted to introduce honorary Lifetime membership at the 2019 AGM, in order that it may recognise individuals who have made a significant and valuable contribution to the club, community and sport of athletics in Glasgow. 23 Bellas and many more supporters turned parkrun purple on a lovely sunny morning in Drumchapel.
Romy Beard finished first female overall while Alan Moss was the first Bella male home. Well done to everyone who took part.
The parkrun run features in our off-road club championships which are held throughout the year with the winners being announced at our awards night in November. Our visit contributed to Drumchapel’s highest ever attendance with 98 runners in total, hopefully next time we can do even better! 💜

We’ve just been notified that Cat MacDonald, Louise Ross and Debs Gray won National Bronze team medals at the Scottish 10 Mile Champs held as part of Sunday’s Tom Scott race.
Congratulations ladies, that’s a fantastic achievement, especially as the race attracted a high quality field. Everyone at the club is very proud of you! 🥉🥉🥉💜💜💜

Around 50 Bellas turned up at this morning's Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon in pretty grim weather.
As always, our ladies team won lots of medals with Louise Ross and Ann Robin finishing 2nd and 5th overall. Shona Donnelly and Emer Campbell placed 1st and 3rd in the V40 category with our ladies team of Louise, Ann and Shona finishing in 1st place overall.
Gordon Dryden finished 1st place in the V60 category.
... Congratulations everyone and well done to all who took part, especially the 10 or so Bellas who sensibly stayed on the bus back to Clydebank after seeing the conditions 😜
