Beltie Books & Café

This is a workshop aimed at people who write poetry and want to share it with others in order to discuss and improve. We will also look at a published poem and consider how and why it works to help inform our own writing. Refreshments will be for sale, if you wish, if you don't thats fine: there is no charge for the workshop. The idea, following Jane Mcbeth's fine example at the Catstrand New Galloway, is to provide a space for writers to come together to write, listen and read. A Writers' cafe space.

Yes the man himself, our national Poet Robert Burns. Come and read out (or just listen) your favourite poem, on his birthday. no charge for event, but refreshments available for purchase and Please say if you will be taking lunch, Thank you.

First session went really well, so last Friday of every month, open session for folkies. Come and join the musicians, or come and listen, sing. Emphasis on traditional/ Celtic stuff.

great poetry from Hugh McMillan reading from his work; 20 plus folk packed in to hear him. What a gift, to express angry, powerful, funny, irreverent, insightful. speaks for many of us. thanks Hugh, you made our day!

What a gorgeous cafe, in a lovely little town. I had cherry & almond cake fresh out of oven (we saw it come out!), lovely coffee, peaceful garden, great selection of books and a warm welcome and obvious pride in the area they live in from the people working in there. All of you - visit!

We had a really nice visit bought a couple of books and had a delightful snack, the owners were so helpful with local information. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Very friendly, small but carefully stocked bookshop with an excellent cafe. The homemade cheese scones are particularly memorable. An attractive selection of work by local artists and photographers adorns the walls.

The Beltie was sweet warm and inviting... And the hot cocoa was perfect on a cold winter's day. Thanks for your hospitality and great views out the back (a secret garden)! We'll be back.

Lovely soup , tea, & scones on a rainy afternoon. Pretty garden , & warm pleasant cafe.

Lovely goats cheese & broccoli � flan, and deserts. Good service and nice surroundings and atmosphere.

Interesting selection of books, helpful friendly staff and super food. Both shop and cafe have a light and attractive decor

Got me hooked on courgette cake a wonderful place to relax out in the back garden.

Fantastic and welcoming Place to browse over the bookshelves and take coffee and cake.

Excellent in every way. Lovely rhubarb & walnut muffins, excellent coffee, & very pleasant staff! ☕️🍰

Cakes. Coffee. Damla the cute dog supervising the lovely cafe owners and visitors to the sweet garden. Don't miss dropping in here!

Andrew's knowledge of Scotland is inspiring. Beltie Books is a open space, full of light to fuel creativity, I adore sitting in the garden on a sunny day with a book or newspaper.

Absolutely fantastic bookshop and café, the Scottish oatcakes with a selection of cheeses and onion chutney was one of the best lunchtime meals I have ever had, not to mention the splendid Russian caravan tea! Good selection of books, both old and new and the staff made us feel really welcome, will certainly be returning next year!
