Bent Arrow Studio Description
My inspiration comes from the sights and feelings I experience on my regular travels in the Southwest region of the USA. My happy places. Vast skies over bronzed desert floors. Silvered mountains looking down on forceful rivers and brilliant blue lakes. Hidden petroglyphs waiting to be found and cautious wildlife trying not to be. Traces of wise warrior nations and ancient customs. The smell of sage and the sound of wind whispering through narrow canyons. I have tried to capture these places, and the feelings they create, in my pieces. Every piece is lovingly and patiently handcrafted, using sterling silver, ancient bronze, rich copper and golden brass, occasionally accented by natural gemstones. Beautiful, original, hard-wearing pieces, ready to take on life's adventure with you.
Why the name Bent Arrow? Well, after a difficult period in my life I decided to get an arrow tattoo. You know the old saying, “An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it’s going to launch you into something great. “ It seemed appropriate, motivating, something to inspire me when things got tough. On removing the bandage I noticed something was just a little “off”. My arrow was just a little…. . . bent. Oh, the upset! Then the laughter started, as I realised that it suited me perfectly. After all, my path in life has never been a straight one. Adversity is definitely going to blunt and bend my arrow somewhat. It doesn’t mean I won’t move forwards, just that maybe my path will be a little winding sometimes. So now I love my ever-so-slightly bent arrow. It truly represents me, and I want it to now represent my jewellery pieces. Original, organic, meaningful, and there to help you make it through whatever life throws at you.
