The Bill McLaren Foundation was founded in March 2010 with support of Bill & The McLaren Family to: • To develop and promote the sport of rugby union and its values• To encourage and provide sporting opportunities for young people• To create an educative centre which will include the Bill McLaren ArchiveWe are always looking for businesses and individuals to be part of this exciting and worthy charity. Current initiatives (Oct 2012) include: • Positive Coaching Scotland - in conjunction with Scottish Rugby & Winning Scotland Foundation - helping youngsters develop through rugby in clubs throughout Scotland. • Bhubesi Pride - the provision of Land Rovers (Bill's Buses) to help develop rugby in 10 African countries. In 2012 they worked with 3, 687 pupils • Glasgow Hawks - joint initiative to develop rugby in fifteen primary schools in inner city Glasgow• Sports Development Officer for Disability in the Borders - focuses on coordinating, implementing and facilitating opportunities for the participation in sport and physical activities for individuals with a disability • And many more! Fund Raising• Predominantly through events such as gala dinners and golf days - recent events include The Long Lunch with David Campese (Edinburgh), the Voice of Rugby Dinner (Perth) & Bill McLaren Foundation Golf Day at Renaissance• Upcoming events - Flagship Dinner - The Voice of Rugby Dinner 8th March 2012 Prestonfield Edinburghspeakers to be announced - watch this space!
