GUN OF THE MONTH – DECEMBER 2018 ----------------- FAUSTI XF4 ----------------- (£3870)... Fausti are a family-owned Italian firearms producer (much like their giant equivalent Beretta), and the company is run by the three daughters of the original founder. Fausti have always had a strong reputation for producing beautiful, well-engineered, reliable and relatively affordable game guns. More recently however, they have made a significant stride into the clay shooting market in the form of the XF4 Sporter. This is an extremely well-thought-out gun, and has begun to achieve prominence in the world of sporting clays very quickly. The gun features a round-bodied action with an overall black finish, although the lettering is available in gold, platinum or black. The attractive stock has a pistol grip and adjustable comb; length of pull is 14 ¾” as standard but this can be altered when the gun is ordered. The forend is rounded with a beavertail grip. The barrels feature a tapered rib and a total of six extended multi-chokes are included. The gun is well balanced, and lock up is solid. The XF4 is definitely a performer; so much so that one of our instructors has already purchased one. The gold-text version is available in our gunroom now, and other models can be ordered if required. (Demonstrations are available but must be booked in advance.) To see this gun or any others we have in stock, come and visit our gun room and we will be happy to find a gun to suit your needs.

Later than planned, it gives us great pleasure to announce the winner of our Sealskinz picture competition! Chosen by Anthony Roupell, the winner was Andrea Nairn, who wins a free pair of Solo Shooting Gloves!! Anthony liked Andrea's photo because it captured the muzzle blast, shot pattern and clay all together on the Braidwood grouse butt! Well done Andrea! Special mention must go to Kevin Dickie who submitted a most beautiful photo on the estate where he works. Thank you all for your lovely pictures! The Sealskinz range is in stock now, ready for the winter, so come over to Bisley at Braidwood to find out more!!

Time for a lesson at Braidwood!

User

We will remember them. Bisley at Braidwood was one of 150 beacons tonight to remember the end of WW1 100 years ago.

User

Well done to everyone who came out today to a poignant club shoot where we also remembered the fallen on the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War One. We thank you for your respect as we honoured their memory. The club shoot itself proved challenging and many felt today's shoot was a particularly good layout. Jed Burn took the overall high gun on 96/100 - a great score! The other positions were highly contested with three people taking joint victories in both Class A and Unclassified divisions - hot competition and excellent shooting! Well done to all our class winners and we look forward to welcoming many of you to the Christmas Club Shoot on 16th December (pre-booking essential).

GUN OF THE MONTH -- AYA No.2 -- ------------------------------ £1,200 (second hand)
... Aguiire Y Aranzabal (AYA) guns have been in production since 1915, and have been built to a standard modelled on some of the best London guns, and in some cases with even better reliability. The respective models are based on a simple numerical system – the No.1 is the “best” gun – top of the range; with the No.2 being essentially a slightly less expensive version of the same gun. The No.3 is a boxlock non-ejector, and the No.4 is as per the No.3 but with ejectors fitted. Other clones of British guns exist in the range, such as the “XXV”, a direct copy of the Churchill Model 25; but the most famous in the line up are undoubtedly the No.4 and the No.2.
The No.2 is the ultimate “affordable” sidelock double-gun, coming in brand new at £7000. Second-hand No.2’s make for even better bargains, ranging in price from £1000-£3000. (No.4’s are a steal at £300-£700 in 12G, but fetch a higher asking price in other calibres.) The No.2 features a straight Grade 2 walnut stock and double triggers, automatic safety, English scroll engraving, and 28” barrels with a concave rib, in the style of the Holland and Holland Royal. The gun weighs in at approximately 6 ¾ lbs. Tens of thousands have been sold across the UK and America; the gun remaining popular as it offers superb handling and balance. The example in our gun room has a 14 1/8” length of pull. If you’re looking at a gun to see you through the coming game season (and many beyond), this could be what you’re looking for. To see this gun or any others we have in stock, come and visit our gun room and we will be happy to find a gun to suit your needs. AYA AGUIRRE Y ARANZABAL FINE GUNS

We came out to Bisley at Braidwood this afternoon for a novice clay pigeon experience. Our Instructor, Arthur, was incredibly patient, making quiet, focused suggestions to my brother and I, enabling us to hit the majority of clays that were presented!! To say we are both competitive is a massive understatement, and he both encouraged and facilitated our little competition whilst keeping it light and enjoyable, what a star!

We were accompanied by my sister in law and nephews, the youngest one, requiring the use of a wheelchair. I was extremely pleasantly surprised to find that this facility is very wheelchair friendly, with the staff helping if required, in a relaxed and downplayed manner. A pleasant and welcome change from the norm.

All in all, a fantastic afternoons experience, which we are already planning to repeat in the imminent future (watch out Arthur!) and one I can thoroughly recommend. Oh, yes, and the coffee's pretty darn good too!

User

We bought our 10 year old son a voucher for 25 clays. The voucher came beautifully presented. The day itself was wonderful. The staff were attentive, informative and fun (Iain in particular was great). Our son had never shot before, but that didn’t matter. He had a marvellous time. We’ll be back. Would whole heartedly recommend.

User

Travelled there alone and was yet again greeted warmly and made very welcome. Vast array of targets to choose from, and although the ground was busy, I never had to wait for a stand. Thanks to all the staff. I always recommend this place and will continue to do so 👍

User

There is a lovely welcoming friendly atmosphere. The staff are so helpful and easy to talk to they cant do enough for you. The food is amazing. Love the facilities available. You can make a full day out of it now as me and my friends and family do. A zeroing session in the 100mtr tunnel range. Followed by some nice lunch or brunch. Then a round of clays. Topped off with some retail therapy or a new gun. Perfect. Only problem is I can't visit more often lol.

User

Pity it’s a 2hr+ drive from Ayr...but worth the trek. Superb and very testing clays.

My kids had their first lesson of clay shooting with Iain Furness. Iain was an excellent instructor and guided my kids so well that they enjoyed the lesson so much. The following day we had another instructor ( forgot his name) for rifle shooting and kids really enjoyed it too. However, they preferred the clay shooting. Thanks Jenna, Iain and he other instructor for making my kids time at Bisley so memorable.
