A Blackburn soldier will be honoured in a special ceremony.
Private James Pitts fought in The Second Boer War and was awarded the Victoria Cross medal for bravery in battle.
He was awarded the Victoria Cross – the highest honour given to the armed forces – for his deeds in battle and will be commemorated with a commemorative stone outside Blackburn Town Hall. The ceremony will take place from 11am on May 31st at Blackburn Town Hall.

‘Roar’some fun at The Mall this half term The Mall, Blackburn

From Tuesday 28th May until Sunday 2nd June there will be a whole host of dinosaur related antics to enjoy including special appearances from some of the most infamous creatures of all time.
... The activities kick off with two days of captivating dinosaur themed craft and education workshops, before Tiny T, the mini T-Rex, arrives in the shopping centre on Thursday.
Friday will see a terrifying 7ft tall, 12ft long T-Rex in Victoria Court and on Saturday children can make their own dino masks to take away with them.

College students have been busy raising money for the East Lancashire Hospice.
Over the last month, entry level foundation students and business students from Blackburn College have between them, raised more than £400 for the charity
