Blue Note Collectables

The terrible weather of yesterday gave me the chance to spend the whole day it the workshop. First on the list was a 1920's beech arm chair. The worm has gotten to it and eaten all the pine dowels in the frame. Fully restored and recovered it's not worth a great amount but I thought why not! It's a good practice project. With the oak varnish removed and the worm treated it will look like a top Scandinavian piece of furniture.

Not posted for a while. Time just seems to fly when you are busy having fun. The last few weeks have been busy, creating and restoring. Finally I have found a good supply of carved wood appliques. It was good to make a cornice and drag paint to spruce up a small kitchen shelf.

The old table lives again.

Rain stopped play. I was just about to oil the top of this Victorian Oak Table I round in a barn in deepest Devon. Ah well tomorrow my lovingly restored table will be completed. By mid week it will be in the Alleyways in Bridport. Over 100 years of history brought back to life and now looking for a home for the next hundred. If only furniture could talk? TBH I really wish I could keep it but I'm now restoring a 1930's dining sweet which matches our cottage perfectly.

The miles we travel and the incredible people we meet, the hours spent searching the internet and watching on line auctions to bring our customers the best in vintage and collectables. Today's little expedition yielded some wonderful vintage bamboo and rattan cases. Pride of place tomorrow at unit 28, The Alleyways in Bridport.

Well it's a New Year and a revamp of the unit. New display shelving added and a sort out of stock.

Getting enough nice bottles ready to fit the led lights is proving to be such hard work 🥃

New LED bottle lights came today. These will be on sale on Saturday at our unit, Blue Note Collectables, The Alleyways, Bridport. Collectable bottle and spare batteries included in the price. £10- £11. Waterstones are asking a Tenner just for the lights.

One of the nice things that's happened since we started Blue Note are the travels around Dorset to source new and interesting things to add to our stock. Some of the places are really in out of the way places. Even getting to these places can be an adventure. Today while collecting a Victorian oak table for restoration, I had the chance to turn Drew Prichard, Salvage Hunter! What a rumage round an old barn will turn up. I can't wait to go back with a trailer.... Meanwhile other purchases this week include 2 armchairs for reupholstery. One is a Peter Guild, possibly the most comfortable brand you could ever buy. Millie the cat has claimed the small wing back chair as her own. Both chairs are destined to be fully re-worked, unless anyone wants to make me a sensible offer and make them their own project?

Will my Liver ever survive? Working hard on producing illuminated bottles for our Christmas range.

Just getting ready for the last vintage market of 2018. It's the last Sunday of the month. 28th October. Should be a good turnout regardless of the weather. After that we will be getting our Christmas display done and bringing in seasonal stock.

Great turnout at the Alleyways for today's vintage market. Lots of great traders with the most eclectic mix of antiques and collectables. It's hard not to want to add to our own collection. Oh hang on why not! 😁

A stunning day for another Vintage Market at the Alleyways, Bridport. It's Hot, Hot, Hot.

Yesterday's vintage market. It was cold but stayed dry. Met some great dealers and got some new ideas for upcycling. The range of antiques and collectibles on offer is truly amazing. A lot of bargains at pocket money prices. Fingers crossed the next market at the end of may will be much warmer.

New stock for the weekend. Victorian cut Chrystal knive rests. Going on sale for £12.00 or nearest offer. You can't buy class and history on the cheap.
