So as of earlier this week, my right calf has scuppered my further attempts to run... I SO wanted to run all of this years @milesformind_uk with @runr_uk ... I wanted to run ALL the miles, I wanted to IMPROVE my running... I was focussed and full of joy at the prospect! HONESTLY! SO! Blinkin’. EXCITED! . . Then I went and strained my calf something bad... so been resting and icing it like billy-o since. .... . What can you do eh?! If anything, I’ve learned of late, to ‘rest if you need to’, just like I’ve said in my last post! . . So yeah, I then figured, I’ll tot up my combined May miles so far. Walked as WELL as ran... and lo and behold, I’m miles over my 50 mile aim already! . . So folks, I’ve completed it, not as hoped, and certainly May isn’t over yet! 💙 . . I may make a miraculous recovery, I may not... I MAY run again this MAY! But I’ll keep moving forward. I’ll keep raising money for @mindcharity and I’ll keep talking about mental health, because #MentalHealthMatters! . . . . . . . . . . . . .

6k run that turned into a 6.7k walk (dratted right calf!)... not to worry! Still enjoyed it! Perhaps more, in a lot of ways, than if I had ran it. . . Noticed this beautifully handsome big snail wandering it’s way along a stone wall... noticed a patch of yellow poppies, snuck in amongst a woodland floor of bluebells... noticed the sun hitting a spray of ransoms, or wild garlic... the smell of the garlic filling my senses. Wonderful. Noticed how blue the sky was... how gentle... I was being with my thoughts... how grateful I was to still be able to walk today’s planned distance (and then some!) . . So, aye... not a ‘bad’ run even though I was unable to run after the first km! Actually a very ‘good’ non run!!! Very lovely indeed in fact! ☀️🐌🌼 . . . . . . . . .

Last week two lovely souls who I am so very lucky to count as my friends, both, unbeknownst to one another, sent me a photo of a bluebell flower they had seen. They both said it had made them think of me... . . These simple acts... the message, the thought, the connection and the knowledge that I had been in their thoughts, was needed... at those moments. I’ll admit I’ve not had a very good week... .... . I’ve felt a bit tired, a bit sad, a bit ‘stuck’ (mentally, as well as physically, at times). . . I have a tendency to go insular, when I’m over tired. Go within myself, not have the energy or the want to converse or open up. . . Luckily, this isn’t always my way, often a couple good sleeps, and some peaceful times, mends. . . Today marks the beginning of #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek 💙 So perhaps, this week, if you can, message or get in touch with someone who pops into your thoughts. Tell them you’re thinking of them. Reach out in some way. To say hi. To send love. Just to send words. . . We all have mental health... Remember that... . . . . . . . . .

You win some... you lose some...💙🤷‍♀️ . . Today’s run didn’t quite go according to plan... right lower calf pulled up at a mile in, jogged next half mile, and had to walk the rest of the way home. Bit gutted! But what can you do eh...? .... . I’ve stretched, showered and foam rolled now I’m home, and will give it a rest and a yoga stretch too. . . Another 3.1 miles in nevertheless for @milesformind_uk with @runr_uk My head and self needed this time outside, and so it still served that purpose. . . I still moved my body, and breathed in the day, had my time outside... all that stuff still counts. And that’s important stuff eh! Because #MentalHealthMatters ☀️ Doesn’t it @mindcharity ! . . So yeah, not according to plan. But still here to tell the tale, and for that I am very grateful. . . (Btw, foam rollers... work of the devil?! Am I right??? 😅😂🏃‍♀️) . . . . . . . . .

Those catchlights..... 🌟 . . I’m so glad my husband found these cats and brought them into our lives... after we lost Sammy, and then Ghillie, in such close succession... too close... I was broken. I was so hesitant and very much overthinking getting another cat... I wanted to wait until the spring... so many stipulations... .... . NOW I’m like, ‘imagine if we hadn’t had a cat during lockdown!’ Imagine we didn’t have BOTH our cats during lockdown. . . Those eyes. Catching the light. BRINGING the light. Drawing onto lino... 🖤 . . I started first tracing, and then drawing this one out, after I had packaged up a few pieces today; so they are now all waiting and ready to wing their ways to their very own FOREVER HOMES! .... . One parcel, a set of 4 paintings, going all the way to Derbyshire. One drawing off to the west coast of Scotland, and another more local, on it’s way up to beautiful Angus! 💛 . . I love when my work finds a home. I’d so much rather it was enjoyed on someone’s wall, than stored, on a shelf or in a drawer in my studio. I hope they all brighten their days. . . The little goldcrest on wood arrived in Glasgow yesterday 💚💛 Gwen, it’s new owner, delighted at it’s safe arrival! I’m excited to see it on the wall of her home. . . I am also, so very heartened, by friends and fellow makers tagging myself, Bluebelle Bombshell, in the new ‘shop small’ on the Instagram stories! How very lovely. . . Happy Saturday all.
