Bonnington House Nursery

This week Busy Bees have been exploring different flavours! The children took part in food tasting with Cameron, which included trying grapefruit, onion and much more! They also took part in a baking activity with Anda, creating different shaped cookies.

The ladybirds have been getting messy with paint, using our feet to make footprints. We have been out in the garden lots and caring for the babies.

This week in the Ladybird room we have been interested in animals. We have been looking at different types of animals ranging from under the sea, farm and safari animals. We have been using messy materials to make animal pictures. We have also been further developing our gross motor skills through a range of physical activities such as using the tunnel to crawl through and dancing to different music. We have also been practising balancing and jumping in the garden.

This week the Caterpillar room have welcomed Three new baby girls, Roxana, Jessica and Amilia, they are all settling lovely. The babies have been exploring jelly play, painting with cars and building with our new wooden shapes.

This week pre-school have been talking about how we wash our hands, why its important to wash our hands and when do we wash our hands. We have also been looking at how water turns into ice because with the cool weather there has been lots of it in the garden.

This week have been taking part in sensory play, with the disco lights! We have also been practicing our creative skills by painting. The children have been spending quality time with Hajni during her last week! We wish Hajni all the best in Pre-School!

This week in Ladybird two, we made smoothie’s and shortbread. We also took a trip to the beach where we explored our footprints in the sand, collected stones and saw planes! The under the sea animals have been popular this week so we made under the sea pictures too.

This week Busy Bees went on an adventure to Victoria Park, to explore the frost and further their gross motor skills. The children had fun climbing, wobbling and stepping from platform to platform.

The Ladybirds have been exploring with ice and paint. We frozen large blocks of ice and painted on them. The ladybirds liked as it began to melt off. We also put paint in the freezer.

This week Busy Bees and LB2 went on a trip to The Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Aquarium Centre. The children explored all the shop, looking all the different fish, whilst looking for which fish they wanted for the Busy Bee fish tank! The children have also been getting creative by designing reindeer pictures, using paint and glue.

Ladybird Two are ready for Christmas! We have had our Christmas party, we've visited Santa and we have created lots of Christmas crafts.

The ladybirds have been making christmas cookies, exploring cinnamon scented play dough and had a visit from Santa.

This week Busy Bees had a special visit from Santa! The children sat on the carpet to welcome Santa. He then handed out special presents to each child. The children then sat in the story corner reading their books!

This week the Caterpillar’s had a visit from a very special gentleman who brought them some lovely Christmas gifts. The babies were eager to explore the water play this week with some sparkly glitter they were fascinated and were trying to catch the sparkles.

This week Butterflies have been extremely busy! We have been baking for the parent social, having our Christmas party and having a special visit from Santa. River Room have been looking at symmetry through festive shapes and painting.

This week Busy Bees have been getting in the Christmas spirit! The children have been helping to decorate the tree, with tinsel and multi-coloured baubles.

This week the babies have been enjoying physical play in the multi purpose room. They have also been mark making with chalks and paint pens. A few of the older babies have been visiting the Ladybird 1 room in preparation for them settling into the new room.

We struggled to get our daughter into Bonnington House as it is so popular, but the management did all they could to accommodate us, and the wait was well worth it. We are so pleased that our daughter is enrolled here and would recommend it to any prospective parents.

I visit the nursery for French classes with the pre-school groups and really love the caring & professional attitudes of all the staff. Children are happy there. It shows. :)

I have been working here for the last week on a supply basis. I have to say I think it is a hidden gem of a nursery. The staff are very caring and know the children well. I have worked in many nurseries in the past but this is by far the best. I look forward to working there again soon. Well done to the staff and management and of course the lovely children who have made me smile very much this week

Excellent nursery. My little boy Finlay is just about to head off to go to Primary School but he has loved every minute of his time at the nursery and is very sad to be leaving. I'm often amazed at what he learns, for example one day he came home and sang me a whole song in Chinese, which was incredible. The staff are great, really friendly and welcoming, and the owners are a really nice couple. The outdoor space is great, a huge garden with small forest area which the kids seem to love. Would highly recommend this nursery!!
