Congratulations to Border curlers Gary Logan and David Melrose who have been selected for British Curling Wheelchair Performance Squad ūüĎćūüŹľ Both play and train with Northern Ice Wheelchair Curling Team at our rink ūü•Ć They will also be hoping to make Scottish Curling team for World Wheelchair Championships next March which are on home ice in Stirling. Well done guys - hope you have a great season #curling #WWhCC2019

It's #LeftHandersDay. Here's a few lefty curlers on the ice who we have photos of ... maybe missed a few? Just 42 days open for curling - and a few days longer for skating

Congratulations to Border curler Andrew Reed who was named ECA English Curling Association president at the weekend. The AGM was held at The Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre home of the UK‚Äôs newest ice rink which is managed by our former assistant manager Ruaraidh. We are sure Ruaraidh got lots of pointers from a number Border curlers who travelled down, and rumour has it he is offering any Border curler a free game if they pop down to see him ... ūü•Ć Not sure if they offer skating though ... ‚õłÔłŹ

Congratulations to Border curler Margaret Robertson who picked up her 50 year membership medal at the Scottish Curling AGM on Saturday. The medal was presented by two other Border curlers, Jim and Liz Cullen with the former having been president of Scottish for the past 12 months.

We are all set to host the Scottish Curling AGM tomorrow afternoon ūü•Ć Earlston club member Jim Cullen is this year's president and will give a summary of the past 12 months. Also one local curler will receive their 50 year membership medal from Jim, but who is it ‚Ķ ūüéĖÔłŹ? Find out when proceedings get underway at 2pm

The draw was done last week for next season‚Äôs Border League. Among the eight teams in Group ūüÖĪÔłŹ are defending champions Coldstream, third placed Greenlaw plus Glendale and Kelso who just missed out on the playoffs last season. In Group ūüÖįÔłŹ are last year‚Äôs runners ups Duns and fourth placed Ayton, plus Earlston and Lauderdale who were playoffs contenders last year. Looks a very balanced draw ‚Ķ ūüďł Bill Cleghorn

Double Olympic gold medalist Kjeld Nuis recently attempted to become the fastest man on ice. He uses an interesting device to combat the wind ... ‚õłÔłŹ

We are holding an Open Meeting on Tuesday 8th May. Border ice rink is seeking to become a charitable trust and this meeting will explain the proposed change and the future management of the ice rink. It is important that as many people as possible have a chance to hear these proposals, so if you use the ice rink or just interested to learn more about this important community venue, please attend the meeting ‚Äď it is open to everyone. The meeting starts at 7pm at Border ice rink.

It just wasn‚Äôt to be for our ECA English Curling Association ladies at the World senior curling championship‚Äôs in Sweden. Four good wins but three defeats (all against their play-off rivals) meant they didn‚Äôt progress from the group stage. Seventh place over all is still very respectable - well done ladies ūüĎćūüŹīů†Āßů†ĀĘů†Ā•ů†Āģů†Āßů†ĀŅūü•Ć photo; WCF/Tom Rowland

Good luck to the ECA English Curling Association ladies team who are competing this week at World senior championsips in √Ėstersund, Sweden. It‚Äôs a team comprising of all Border ice rink members - skip Judith Dixon (plays for Swinton & Glendale), third Joan Reed (Glendale & Foulden), second Helen Forbes (Duns & Ayton) & lead Debbie Higgins (Glendale & Coldstream Curling Club). They are in a group alongside ūüáęūüáģūüáģūüá™ūüáģūüáĻūüáĪūüáĽūüá≥ūüáŅū üŹīů†Āßů†ĀĘů†Ā≥ů†Ā£ů†Āīů†ĀŅūüá®ūüá≠ - first game v Ireland at 3.30pm today ūüďł WCF/Tom Rowland

A cheeky #ThrowbackThursday album (from just two weeks ago) to the World men's curling championship in Las Vegas. A number of Border curlers travelled to support the Scottish team and apparently they were some of the noisiest spectators - as these photos will testify ūüėČ

A great place to visit with family for the public ice skating sessions on Sundays. It's easy and relaxing, everything you need is right there, not too crowded. I come with my three children on Sundays once a month. You can get the ice skates there, there are changing rooms, good ice, music, nice atmosphere, and a cafГ© right there that has affordable snacks that won't break your wallet. It's always a joy for the children when I take them there, and I like ice skating too, so it is a great Sunday outing!
