Border Union, Kelso Description
The Border Union Agricultural Society was formed at a public meeting in the Cross Keys Inn on 22nd January 1813 under the Chairmanship of the Duke of Roxburghe. The aims were to give Premiums for the best stock of different kinds and for discoveries in agriculture.
Since then, the Society has grown in size and prominence and principally holds 3 core events each year: a Championship Dog Show, a two day Annual Agricultural Show and the world famous Cydectin Kelso Ram Sales. It also hosts many other events throughout the year, some of which have no agricultural connection.
22nd January 2013 marks the Bicentenary of the Border Union which is being celebrated throughout the year, with HRH The Countess of Wessex as patron of the society.

lovely show ground great parking near your show rings and lovely to see kept so clean
Was set out nice weather was good had a great day there ! 👍🏻
Lovely venue and good facilities . Love the parking at this show because it's all round the outside
I loved the show ground and the show it was fantastic just a shame that the committee wanted £49 to stay for one night on the show ground!! Why it was not pro-rata like most other shows (except Windsor) I do not know! Never mind we managed to find a FREE stop over venue.
I attend this show field every year. In August. Very well run, with established staff on site to help. Such nice lads on the tractors helping to move tables and seat benches. And the hall staff are amazing.
Great show, lots to see and good variety of stalls, really enjoyed our day.
Fantastic Championship Show
Great day for Jacob & Me.
1st Place
Brilliant weekend very well organised and a great chance to catch up with some brilliant people
Brilliant day for all the family. Lots to do & see & plenty different stalls. We go every year & we love it
Attended Kelso dog show, great place to go for the day, everything you needed & only £5 per adult to get in. Good value for money for a day out, bonus you can take your own dog along too.
Always a great day out. If you live in the Borders you shouldn’t miss this.
Always a grand place to meet up with people! Plenty to see and do.
AMAZING SHOW DAY!! Hope to be back soon mind though im away next summer in Greece
Super day out. Please make sure that parking attendants actually show blue badge holders where the disabled car park is and not just tell them to park down there and get the bus. My mistake but raging that the parking attendant was more interested in getting my £3 than telling me where to go.
Was disappointed though with it being 40 years might have been bit more entertainment in main ring.
There seemed to be a lot less going on than most other years when i attend and the trade stands are quite poor. I feel more could be done to draw in the crowds and encourage them to shop at the show. I have to say the food hall is excellent and its great to see so many local producers. Just did not feel i got the same value for money this year. Also could there be more varied food outlets at the show as this is also a bit disappointing and as there seems to be room could they be spread about a bit more.
Getting access to ground through turnstile was a nightmare, 1 person giving out tickets another taking card payments ( as long as they could get a wifi signal) once you have tickets and paid for you think that's it but no, someone else waiting to scan your ticket before you get in!! Surely there has to be an easier method to get in and keep the queue flowing!
Todays show is a sad reflection of the Donald McClaren days when I attended for over 20 years with a trade stand. Remember the new "Dancing Diggers" year of attendance? Now just a corporate affair ending as a heavy drinking show. No professional trade stands.
Admission way over priced for what you get poor value they need to look at the prices the THE is by far better value . Think guys.
