A selection of the stunning photographs by Camilla Watson as part of a community project involving the elderly residents of São Cristovão in the Mouraria District of Lisbon. The photographs adorn the walls of the district where residents live - a fitting tribute to the many locals who define the area's heritage.
Thank you Igor - TheStreetBuddha - for introducing me to Camilla's work and the Mouraria District of Lisbon during our walking tour:

Edinburgh Zoo is famous for its giant pandas, but this winter it will be known for slightly more mythical creatures.
The attraction has been transformed by more than 450 giant Chinese lanterns.
The hand-made lights inspired by mythical creatures from Scottish and Chinese folklore have been placed around the zoo to create a "winter wonderland".
... Unicorns, kelpies, a sleeping dragon and Nessie the Loch Ness Monster are among the creatures on display in The Giant Lanterns of China event.

Queluz Palace is one of Portugal’s Royal Palaces used by the Royal Family until the monarchy was abolished in 1910.
The palace was designed as a summer residence for Infante Pedro of Portugal. Work began in 1747. Pedro married his niece Infanta Maria of Portugal (Queen Maria I of Portugal) in 1760. On Maria’s accession to the throne in 1777, Pedro was known as King Pedro III of Portugal (jure uxoris – by right of wife).
When the Ajuda Palace was destroyed by fire in 1794, Que...luz Palace became the Royal Family’s principal residence. Following the rebuilding of the Ajuda Palace, the Royal Family again used it as their principal residence and sadly Queluz Palace was rarely used afterwards.
Queluz Palace has often been described as the Versailles of Portugal, albeit on a much smaller scale than the French palace.
There are beautiful formal gardens that include several water fountains, however the highlight is the stunning tiled canal.
I visited the palace ten years ago, since then there has been a considerable investment in restoring the palace to its former glory. Work is on-going.
Infante Pedro is the great nephew of Queen Catherine, wife of King Charles II of England, Scotland & Ireland. Queen Maria I is the great great niece of Queen Catherine.
The palace is maintained by the state and is open all year round.

Palácio da Bemposta (Bemposta Palace) or Paço da Rainha (Residence of the Queen) in Lisbon was the residence of Queen Catherine, widow of King Charles II of England, Scotland & Ireland.
Catarina (Catherine) de Braganza was born at the Paço Ducal de Vila Viçosa on 25th November 1638, daughter of King João IV of Portugal & Luisa María Francisca de Guzmán y Sandoval. Catarina (Catherine) married King Charles II at Portsmouth on 21st May 1662. Charles and Catherine had no childr...en although Charles had many illegitimate children by various mistresses.
Charles died in London on 6th February 1685 and was interred in Westminster Abbey. Following Charles’ death, Catherine remained in England until she returned to her native Portugal in 1692. Catherine died at the Palácio da Bemposta on 31st December 1705 and was interred in the Mosteiro de São Vicente de Fora in Lisbon along with her parents.
Queen Maria II of Portugal transferred the palace to the army and it subsequently became the Academia Militar (Military Academy). The palace is not open to the public.
In 2012 a bust of Queen Catherine was unveiled in front of the Palace to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee.
