Bosphorus Glasgow Description
With a warm, colourful and traditional Turkish decor, diners are made to feel very welcome at Bosphorus Turkish Restaurant on Glasgow’s Dundas Street. Just in case the name and decor have not made their point, then the live belly dancing, Thursday to Sunday, should leave diners in no doubt that they are in a Turkish restaurant. In fact, the owner opened what may well have been Scotland’s first Turkish restaurant in 1981.
Authentic Turkish mezze and grills
Meals at Bosphorus Turkish Restaurant start with a great range of traditional hot and cold mezze. Salads, humus and dips flavoured with exotic spices and herbs are popular choices for the cold mezze while the deep-fried cheese, lamb meatballs and melting aubergine starters stand out among the hot mezze.
The main courses are a greatest hits list of regional Turkish specialities in which use of the charcoal grill features prominently. From Adana kebabs to chicken hotspots or guvec dishes, there is a mouth-watering variety of lamb and chicken dishes served minced, cubed and on or off the bone.
The kitchen recommends the sultan’s sofrasi – a set menu of hot and cold mezze followed by assorted cuts of char-grilled lamb and chicken.

My first visit to Bosphorus, I'd never had Turkish food before so they brought me a mixture of popular dishes and they were all delicious! The Turkish drink 'Raki' was new to me and very strong and compliments the food nicely. The restaurant is close to Buchanan subway and the restaurant up the stairs is lovely, really comfortable and warm setting with turkish music playing in the background. If there is a big group of people going they will happily provide entertainment such as traditional Turkish dancing and I believe I saw a Shisha pipe there too. Check out the menu on their website.
