Food average, service was ok. Ok for a quick meal.

Lovely meal and service, tables are rather tightly packed in together though so you don't have must room between you and the next table so not very conducive environment for a quiet meal with the family

Sullen and bored waitress, starter arrived at the same time as main course. Cullen Skink was cold and had to be sent back for reheating. No apology. Poor, poor, poor! Avoid!

Lovely place and delicious food. My 10 year old son and I were made most welcome.

User

Great food, good beers, very friendly staff. A place you feel at home at.

Appalling - avoid at all cost.

This restuarant is positively appalling for food. I've never before sent something back to the kitchen but had to during my visit. The waitress didn't even blink at the request. I'm guessing it happens with some frequency.

I made the mistake of ordering the "Homemade Apple Crumble". I assumed (incorrectly) that the "homemade" moniker meant it would be halfway decent. When it arrived I had some bizarrely stewed apple mush at the bottom of a bowl, topped with a still mostly frozen block of shortbread and a freezer burned scoop of ice cream. I attempted to eat a bite or two and it was one of the most disgusting dishes I've ever tasted.

Dinner itself was of questionable quality but edible at least.

Where we were sat we could hear all the clanging within the kitchen along with their horrible taste in music. Bathrooms were in a disgusting state (and mostly without toilet paper), and the staff lacked any enthusiasm for their job (couldn't blame them).

It was a good place for a quick bite on our trip. The food was good and staff was very friendly. It looked like a good bar to relax in.

We ordered 100% beef burger, haggis and sirloin steak. The burger was basically £0.90 burger rolls from tesco with a paddy in between, no mayo, no lettuce, no taste, chips were extra cost, anything added(cheese) was extra cost, same thing with the haggis and sirloin, if you want a shots glass worth of sauce it's £2. We all like food and we have had good and bad food - we all agreed that this place is by far the worst of the worst. No taste, no style, no good. As for the staff goes, they did not look like they enjoyed working here - friendly is far from what I would define them as. The best thing on the menu was the water, clean, clear and full of taste, I can not say the same thing for the food. We could have had a much better quality and quantity for same price or lower else where but unfortunately were ended up here. Usually I finish my plate, but I made an exception at this place.

A quick, impromptu lunch stop. Nice surroundings, service was fine, food was ok - I had fish, which was cooked well but a little small. I liked the ambience and decor in the bar

User

Usually packed as there aren't many sit-in eating options in Fort Augustus. Menu is decent and food usually comes quick enough considering how busy it is. If you go in summer the conservatory (main dining area) is a bit hot and unpleasant

User

Dog friendly. Cosy. Reasonably priced. Friendly bar maid.

Food was average, chicken with pepper sauce was unedible. The amount of pepper used was ridiculous. Staff didn't care.
