Finally got around to putting the date on this so now I can call it finished. These birds would make a great cushion or tote bag..anyone fancy a workshop?
Booking a class....I will post interesting ideas...after that it is up to you to sort out a date with me using the following cost guidelines. This way I hope to be more flexible and reach a wider range of people. I also hope it will encourage you to do classes with friends and share the posts. Crafting is good for our menta...l health, but it is even better when we share it with others......... You can 1) book a session just for you at £25. This will be one to two hours and will give you one to one tuition. or 2) you can organise a mini group of your own - for 2 - 4 people I will run a class of approximately 2 hours for £15 per person. or 3) for 5 to 8 people it would be £12 per person. See you all soon.

Just working on these cats and dogs....this would make a lovely workshop for those new to patchwork or those who have done some before. Book in a session with me to learn about traditional English patchwork.

I dread to think how I might be if I didn't sew....but the bit of this article that struck me was that we also need to learn new things to keep the effect fresh and strong....time to learn a new skill or two! Any stitching things you have always fancied? Get in touch and sort out a lesson or two with me at Bramley Cottage.

It has been a long time since I last posted! I can do all sorts of crafts, but I find the marketing part difficult. I plan and prep all sorts of things and then find that people cant come that day or the time is too late or etc etc. All valid reasons....so time for a new approach....I will post interesting ideas...after that it is up to you to sort out a date with me using the following cost guidelines. Traditional English Patchwork
Suitable for total beginners or those who have done some hand-sewn patchwork already. Learn how to cut the paper accurately, tack your fabric to the papers and then sew it all together. The papers come out later and you are left with an individual piece of work. No need to start on a quilt as there will be suggestions on how to use your work in other ways!
Start with simple hexagons and move on to other shapes as the weeks progress. We will cover... some Christmas gift ideas in November if you fancy making a few last-minute presents.
September 13th, October 11th, November 15th and December 13th. 7.30 till 9.30pm
£40 for all four sessions and some materials.
Ring 01453 821 593 to book your space.

Rag Rug Making
In the first session you will be introduced to several methods of creating a “rag rug” and will get to try them out. After that you will be guided through your own project and given the opportunity to try less well-known techniques during the remaining weeks. Your project can be as big or as small as you feel you can tackle; bags and cushions make great alternative to rugs!
September 27th, October 18th, November 29th and December 20th. 7.30 till 9.30pm
... £40 for all four sessions and some materials.
Ring 01453 821 593 to book your space.

September Courses are going live soon. Please book up for them asap as I only have limited space and I would hate for you to miss out. I will be running three different 4-week classes plus two one-offs between now and Christmas.

I have lots of these canvas shopping bags that I don't like using because they are boring...solution; make it interesting! It took several hours but now I have a nice new bag with no advertising!

Sorting out scraps.....thank you Gail Smith for the big basket of bits. Two football matches worth of ironing to get them to this stage. Now to cut out 4inch squares and loads of hexagons. It could take a while!

Bit of a long post - will you read to the end?
As I write this the sun is really showing us what it can do, and summer feels like it really is here. Time now to be out in the garden and gallivanting around the country or world. As a consequence, classes will stop now until September, but don’t forget the following:
... A) I am happy to run private lessons for individuals at any time. Although I charge £20 per hour it is amazing how much ground you can cover in a single hour and I always do my best to teach in the time we have rather than sit and watch you do tasks!
B) I would love to come to you to teach! With 4 participants I am happy to travel to you and do any of the lessons I normally run or do a bespoke lesson just for your group. We can find a day or evening to suit you and I will bring all the equipment for the lesson.
C) I am always looking for innovative ideas for classes or workshops. If you would like me to teach anything in particular, now is the time to request it so that I can make space in Septembers timetable.
I aim to have a new class list out at the end of August or beginning of September so please keep an eye on your inbox. I only have space for 6-8 pupils, so some classes can fill up quickly. Saying that, it is always worth asking if I have space on a class as you never know and sometimes I will make space to squeeze and extra one in or I get a last-minute cancellation.
As well as patchwork and quilting, the autumn is the time to run rag rug classes and felting. I also want to plan in a “Stitching for Wellbeing” and “Slow Stitching” series of lessons and maybe some Christmas themed days…. watch this space! See you all in September! Claire

Blocks done and joined, so now working on the stripes to hold it all together in the style of the Gypsy Wife. If this was machine patchwork I could join a whole load of strips and then cross cut them into sections....but it isn't and each stripe has to be individually done. Lucky I love English Patchwork! My wall hanging is getting closer to being finished with every stitch!

Summer Timetable - now the sun is out again there will be fewer classes listed here as most people would rather be in the garden. BUT....that doesn't mean you cant come to see me! I am happy to run private lessons or small group sessions for you and friends, just ring me to sort. ALSO - watch out for summer sessions for parents with kids during the holiday. See you all soon. Enjoy the summer!
