Bridge 8 Hub And Paddle Cafe

Hi everyone, I have just been selected to join Mark Beamount as one of the 80 riders to do a "the world's first virtual around the world in a day" cycle of 240miles (340KM) on Thursday. This will be done in the house on a turbo trainer. Starting at 4am and aiming to finish at 8pm, in time for "clap for the carers" The aim is to raise £240.00 for our NHS. Looking for people to support my efforts.... Watch this space..

Just a post to recognise Paul Carnie from Granton Youth Centre for volunteering this weekend re more clean up and home baking. Also thanks to Mike Watson and wife from East Lothian for three huge home made tray bakes. Excuse the lack of social distancing but when kids see food this good, difficult to control...

In partnership with Bikes for Refuges (Scotland) bike hire scheme, we are now able to offer any NHS staff or Care workers a free loan of Ebikes or Mtb to get you to work and home during this crisis. Please email me sean@bridge8hub.co.uk every little helps

I am extremely grateful to the powers to be at Scottish Canals for giving our little community here at Bridge 8 Hub, Bikes for Refuges (Scotland) Dragon Boats Ladies, Telford College students plus the hundreds of people who use this place access to proper facilities. It's been a long long time

Our activities are closed but the Paddle cafe will be open from 10am until 2pm offering free takeaway teas, coffee, hot chocolate and treats... She is a legend and is supporting anyway she can... See you tomorrow

Our last day of work at Boroughmuir High School delivering canoeing within Physical Education Class to S4.
We are closed for the time being but working with a small army behind the scenes to produce a FREE outdoor learning programme in the weeks ahead for children and young people.
Our weekend hire hub will also be Free giving family time to enjoy the outdoors. Again, this will be done online with Scottish Government guidelines.
... I will be contacting industry professionals to gather a bigger fleet of equipment, PPE gear and instructors to deliver this programme.

I have met with Edinburgh Council Outdoor Learning Officer Cliff Smith, about Bridge 8 Hub delivering an outdoor programme in the weeks ahead. We still have a bit of planning and more clarity needed but at this time putting in the background work required to make this happen. We will keep you posted daily.... In the meantime we are still closed.

If you hold an outdoor National Governing Body Award for in any outdoor activity and would like to become a volunteer to assist delivery free activities over the coming months and assist some students at Telford College with their formal training. Please get in touch with sean@bridge8hub.co.uk and let us know what you can offer.
We want to establish a bank of instructors who could assist us. Children and families will need to be kept active. This will be done in line with Scottish Government guidelines over the next couple days and weeks....
Activities to include canoe, kayaking, Stand up paddle boarding, raft building, archery, mountain biking out bushcraft, orienteering and more...

As many of us are dealing with the news of Schools closure. Keeping individuals, youths and families active will be important.
I will be in communication with leaders within our industry, Edinburgh Council and third sector staff to see if we can offer free access to our activities at a point where its safe and in keeping with Government guidance.
We are currently closed but we will keep you updated.
