The history behind the Loch Rannoch Marathon goes back to the 1980's when it was the course of the Scottish Championships. Now organised by Run Scotland, the annual Loch Rannoch Marathon and Half-Marathon attracts scores of runners and spectators alike to Kinloch Rannoch every October, all looking to experience one of Scotland’s best-loved road races.
Starting and finishing in Kinloch Rannoch and boasting one of the most scenic marathon routes anywhere in Great Britain, the 26.2 mile course runs along mostly flat road around the entire perimeter of Loch Rannoch, with a few gradual inclines adding to the challenge.
