We're very happy to be supporting Transition Town Bridport's Green Fortnight initiative. I'm pleased also to say that sourcing and supplying eco friendly and sustainable yarns feels the responsible way forward and is placed high on Yarn's agenda. Here are some of them to share with you... 164 more words http://bridportyarn.co.uk/bridport-green- fortnight/
Patience and perseverence ultimately pay off... and especially with brioche stitch! Quality yarn and decent needles play a part too! Very therapeutic, fancy a go...?! ππ
OMG I'm knitting outside the shop....surreal! ππ
Would you like to learn more about the importance of tension, decreasing and increasing, picking up stitches, sewing up techniques including mattress stitch on stocking stitch, moss stitch and garter stitch, grafting methods AND interpreting a pattern and your knitting....then this workshop is for you!. For more information please feel free to call the shop, email or take a look on our website and online store.
Erika Knight's Wool Local is brand new and definitely one to ponder over! Authentically British and environmentally sustainable this intimate blend of luxurious Blue Faced Leicester and hardwearing Masham is produced solely in Yorkshire. Earthy shades, 4 ply weight...perfect for layering and accessories. Have a great weekend everyone! π
There's a hint of Spring in the air! And Adriafil's Demetra has a Spring like feel about it too! A creative, carefully blended mix of wool, cotton and alpaca with a fresh palette of contemporary shades this soft yarn is perfect for accessories and light weight layers. Beautiful...π
Exciting, energetic, ecofriendly! Sassy, saucy, sustainable! Impossibe to ignore! Woca...wool and hemp blend. Love it! π Take a peek on our online store too... β€οΈππππ
π NEW YARN ONLINE π Morfeo is rustic, soft to handle and comes with a mix of colours cleverly blended onto a solid base. The high wool content is great for warmth, with the alpaca and silk giving softness and a subtle sheen. Morfeo is spun purposely to be very slightly thicker and thinner at differing points supporting its rustic and natural look. Absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for wintery weekends...π
Adriafil's Lana Naturale Inca, pure Peruvian alpaca...another favourite! π Absolutely gorgeous and yes you're right, it's sustainable and eco friendly too! ππ
Sierra Andina...100% superfine, pure quality alpaca...just one of many favourites! Check out those shades. And guess what....? It's eco friendly and sustainable too! ππ
A couple more eco friendly yarns...Erka Knight's Wild Wool, a sustainable blend of soft wool and nettle in irresistably earthy colours. Spun in Italy from the fibre integral to the inside of the plant, nettle grows abundantly and perenially without the need for pestisides or pollutants. ππ Gossipium is 100% cotton. A staple fibre making it sustainable to grow, breathable and hypo allergenic. The raw cotton comes from the plants surrounding an eco friendly mill in India...pure quality. ππ
A week or two of Eco sustainable yarns. π First up is Demetra a mix of wool, cotton and alpaca. The animals and plants are sourced responsibly with disruption to the environment minimalised. Check out OEKO TEX standard 100...Adriafil certifies annually. This is a truly beautiful yarn, gorgeous texture, amazing palette, competitively priced, eco friendly... π
Feeling especially Brexit defiant today in an attempt to quell how cross I am, how sad I feel and ultimately how fearful this process makes me. However, I refuse to deny you choice and the shop will be full to the brim with quality yarns from our European suppliers. Incompetence cannot be allowed to prevail. x
Brioche Stitch creates a wonderfully lofty, widely ribbed fabric. Surprisingly easy, however people often find it a little intimidating. Perhaps due to the yarn overs or maybe because of the abbreviations used in the pattern...this workshop aims to reassure you and dispell the myths!
Perfect workshop for the New Year and the beginner knitter...the simple basics and beauty of knitting - casting on with two needles, the knit stitch and purl stitch how to cast off and more. The only two stitches you need to start you on your creative journey.

Warm, welcoming, and well stocked. Having a sofa to sit and browse on is a real winner. Great natural light to bring out the colours in the well displayed wool.
Warm welcoming feeling when you walk in to Bridport Yarn !

Rosie and her staff are inviting, warm and friendly. I've felt welcomed and supported and have a new hobby to boot! The knit cafe is a great space to learn and socialise.

I've just spent a few hours learning to knit at a workshop at Yarn in Bridport. I feel so relaxed. Amazing teachers, wonderful wool, great company, tea and cake. Few better ways to spend a rainy January afternoon. Thank you!
I visited this shop while on holiday. It is a wonderful yarn shop with a wonderful selection to suit all budgets. The lady in the shop was lovely and friendly too.
I visited Bridport Yarn yesterday from Devon (I don't have a car, so two trains, a bus and just over two hours to get there) Well worth a visit, Rosie was so welcoming and helpful and I came away with perfect contrasting yarn for my next shawl project. I hadn't thought about using a mohair yarn for a bit of texture, but thank you for the suggestion Rosie, looking forward to casting on!
I have just completed a beginner's knitting class with Jill and Rosie and is was fantastic! Very patient teachers and lovely atmosphere. I would wholeheartedly recommend this class to any budding knitter! οΏ½οΏ½
Have just finished a granny daisy square workshop with Rosie and loved every minute of it! Rosie is so patient, you learn the skills effortlessly and come away with such enthusiasm. Can't wait to get started on a project!
Have had a brilliant day at Bridport Yarn today. Meet some lovely people and have learnt so much in just one day. The shop is full to the brim with lots of gorgeous yarns in every colour you could ever want. Looking forward to going back in a few weeks for the sock knitting day. Thank you Rosie and Gill for a fantastic day.
Happened upon this lovely shop whilst on holiday! I received a warm welcome and could have spent many hours perusing all the wonderful wools and patterns on display. The layout is so interesting I just wanted to explore. An inspirational store and well worth taking time out to visit. I got given great help and advice and so much nicer than trying to purchase wool online. I shall certainly be using this store again!! Wish I lived closer as the courses sound fun and the knitting mornings are a great way to meet like minded people and to gain he,p with projects. Thank you
Had some lovely help on what to buy my 5 year old who was interested in sewing, bought a very fun tapestry of a frog which she has started doing and is enjoying. Thank u for the help.
Gorgeous little shop, friendly owner and lots of nice things begging to be re-homed. Did my bit with two beautiful skeins of Chester Wool Co 'Angel'. Definitely be back when we're next down this way.
Found this shop today on holiday in pouring rain. Really brightened up my day. The lovely ladies searched for a pattern for me and held it for me with two balls of wool while I trudged round Bridport with husband, daughter and two soaking dogs. Will certainly visit again via the Internet. This is what knitting shops should be and very few and far between nowadays unfortunately.
Did the beginners crochet workshop today and really enjoyed it. Rosie and gill were friendly and helpful and despite trying and failing before today to master the crochet basics I came away today knowing how to do three stitches and how to do a granny square and have my own examples to show for it.
Can't beat it so much colour & quality, Rosie couldn't be more helpful !! I have done 3 workshops so far loved them all, can't recommend it enough
Attended granny daisy square workshop tonight and really enjoyed it. Rosie is such a brilliant tutor - very patient and creates a calm atmosphere. Can't wait to go back to buy wool to make a blanket!
