A lovely dry and mild day, 22" degrees and a gentle 10mph breeze.. Almost perfect conditions today. Section 1 was all about carp, with very few ide showing on the pole lines.. And then getting your tactics just right. Tim Gustard drew hot 🔥 end peg 32, a steady start on the method feeder saw him get off to a decent start, but when the fish slowed up a switch to the pellet waggler kept the fish coming in spells throughout the afternoon. At the weigh in Tim put 70lbs on the scales to win his section and the overall match. In second place was Steve Royle who fished the.. Yes you've guessed it.. The pellet waggler..! A steady day saw Steve put a very respectable 62lb 14oz on the scales. Worthy of a mention was Jim Anderson in 3rd place who carp caught carp on the feeder and expander pellet on the pole to weigh in a decent 44lbs 14oz. Section 2 was another close one, with the ide and carp showing up on the pole lines. It was all about getting your feeding just right today in section 2, and Barry Young made a decision at the start to keep things simple, fishing one 13m pole line with maggot and chopped lobworms. 50 ide, 9 carp and 2 skimmers saw Barry register 67lbs 14oz on the scales to win the section. Second place went to Rosen Arsov with a great weight of 58lbs 12oz, a nice mix of carp on feeder and pole, and ide on the pole on maggot. Don Lines on end peg 47 was very close behind in 3rd place with 55lbs, mainly carp caught on pole, but a few lost fish in the stick - ups cost him dear today. Mark Acton in 4th place with 43lbs wasn't far off the pace, having a good day on the pole catching ide. Well done guys, some terrific weights and really nice nets of fish throughout. Broom Super League sponsored by Daiwa ( 3-man) team event next Sunday.

Broom Fisheries Sunday Open Results
Wet and wild today at times. 9 anglers fished the open so kept it fair and had 3 mini sections. Pegs 20-22, 24-26 and 28-30. Section 1 was won by Steve Royle who caught on the pellet waggler for a very respectable 91lb 6oz of Carp from peg 21 Second was myself with 57lb mostly skimmers with a nice munter as a bit of a bonus from peg 20 and third Matt Baxter with a 19lb mixed bag from peg 22. Section 2 was won by Rosen Arsov who caught most...ly Carp for 42lb 14oz from peg 24, second was Don Lines on peg 26 who had a mixed bag for 38lb and third was Dave Walker with a good net of silvers for 21lb from peg 25. Section 3 was won by Ian Whitson with another good mixed bag from peg 28, tipping the scales at 49lb 10oz, second was Mark Acton with a mostly silvers bag from peg 29 for 28lb 8oz and third from peg 30 was Geoff Brough with a mixed bag for 19lb. Tough conditions well done all. Sorry no pictures due to the weather, think it drained everyone.
Worth a mention Steve Royle's feeder rod ended up in the lake, 2 hours later he caught a Carp on the pellet waggler and his feeder rod and a Carp on his feeder rod. Yep....I know what you are thinking. But would like to hear from you anyway.
Open again next Sunday please book in through the website.

Broom fisheries Friday night match results (. 11 fished. ) QUEENSBERRY WATER Section 2 1st - Ian Whitson - 57lb (p23)... 2nd - Matt Baxter - 52lb (p28) 3rd - Chris Scott - 48lb (p24) 4th - Barry Young - 26lb (p27) 5th - Gerald Carswell - 17lb 8oz (p25) . Section 1 1st - John Williamson - 22lb 4oz (p16) 2nd - John Wright - 10lb 8oz (p15) 3rd - Joshua Caisley - 9lb (p17) 4th - Tim Gustard - 7lb (p19) 5th - Gary Edwards - DNW (P19) 5th = Mark Clow - DNW (P20) It was a tale of two halves tonight, the lower section doing considerably better than the top half..! With a substantial amount of rainfall the previous 12 hours, the fluctuating water temp had unsettled the fish a bit, they were quite reluctant to be tight across in the shallower water so the tip rods and feeders didn't really produce for those using them in what was a shortened match due to poor light. One or two nice catches were recorded, Ian Whitson winning section 2 with 57lbs, pole and method feeder short, and Matt Baxter 52lbs on paste. John Williamson won section one with 22lbs, and John Wright only needed 10lb + to secure the second place envelope from end peg 15.. Mark Clow had one bite all night on hot 🔥 peg 20.... Shows how pegs change from match to match and just how hard it was for most. Purely down to a bit of rain upsetting the balance, but a much needed freshen up for fish and us.. 😁! Broom series round 5 on Sunday, to be held on Queensberry Water and Wallace Lake, all other waters free for pleasure Anglers.
