This week we received notice that we have been Granted Planning Approval for the new showroom for Augustus Autos and we are delighted. This is a simple portal frame clad with standing seam metal sheets with large glass panes and a breis soleil. After positive discussions with the Planning Department, they agreed to support a design that had the physical appearance of an agricultural farm building in the countryside, albeit it is to accommodate a sales area for high spec motor cars.
When we work hand-and-glove with the local authority, much can be achieved.
Work is due to commence early 2019.

Today we say goodbye to Grace. Grace has spent the past year working with us on a Part One Year Out "placement" as part of the Architecture course at University.
Not only is Grace hilarious, but she has built up a fine body of work in her time with us, learnt a great deal and contributed significantly to the Architectural cause.
She will be missed by all the team here as well as our clients and contractors who worked with her over the past 14 months.
... So, to mark the occasion, we made up a framed print, wrote her a card and let her buy us all bacon rolls to help us get over the cocktails we all over imbibed on last night ....

We have been working up the detail for this two storey extension to a house in Broughty Ferry. It is about to go out to competitive tender to local Main Contractors.
Once the detail is added to our computer model, the project really comes to life.

We have recently completed a proposal for this large, detached house in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, for a private client and are about to submit and application for Planning Approval.
The house comprises 6 bedrooms, nursery, three public rooms (the principal one being on the upper floor with access to sun terrace), kitchen and dining area, office and double garage. The south facing garden has an excellent aspect towards The River Tay and it is intended that the full width upper terrace will provide maximum opportunity to enjoy the site’s beautiful location.

We have obtained Planning Approval for this modest alteration to a cottage in Easthaven, Angus.
This cottage is located right on the shore at Easthaven, Angus, with uninterrupted views of the North Sea. When the weather is closing in, our clients are the first to know about it !
Despite the amazing location, the current layout had all the public rooms on the on the other side of the cottage and on the ground floor. So, this proposal comprises an upper floor, open plan kitch...en/ dining/ living area with a large dormer window extending out that provides access to a first floor flat roof terrace, which can be used when the weather is fair, and makes the most of the beautiful part of the Angus Coastline.
A modest sized project, but no less joyous.

Most of our work has been in the Angus/ Dundee area but our most recent projects commissions have been in Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Perth, Glasgow, Moray and the like. Now and again we get asked to deal with applications and projects further afield and in this case an application to extend an existing house in a Conservation Area in Essex. This is a single storey extension that reflects the existing materials, proportions and character of the house.
It is not particularly rea...ssuring to notice that when you get involved in projects in other areas Local Authority Planning Departments are pretty much the same everywhere, however. We watch this one with interest >
