Today we launched our Self-Denial appeal as we began our focus on the inspiring work taking place in the Caribbean territory 🙂
Using the story of the paralysed man and his friends, found in Mark 2, we considered how we could “see the difference you can make” as we engage in this time of self-denial 🙂

We are delighted to be welcoming Rachael as an adherent member of Buckhaven Salvation Army!
Rachael is an active member of our young leaders team, dance/timbrel group, Loft Youth group, Divisional Youth Band & Chorus as well as being part of our worshipping community.
An adherent member of The Salvation Army is a person who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and seeks to follow and be like him; participates in the worship, fellowship, service and support of a local Salvation... Army congregation; and identifies with the Army's Mission Statement.
This important decision for Rachael will identify her as a member of The Salvation Army and will mark a significant point on her journey of Christian discipleship.
You are invited to come and celebrate with us and support Rachael as she takes this step of faith. Come join us during our Sunday morning worship and afterwards for some refreshments and fellowship.

Yesterday we had fun at ‘Explore’ which is a group who meet on a Monday lunch time at Levenmouth Academy to discuss the big questions of life and faith.
Yesterday saw a very serious game of jenga take place followed by helpful conversations around questions relating to suffering.
There will be no group next Monday but when we return on Monday 11th February we have the opportunity to submit new questions for the weeks ahead or to choose a topic that we want to explore as a g...roup.
A real privilege working in the school 🙂

Christianity and the Healthy Mind:
For those who don’t know, I work for the GLO Centre, based in Motherwell. It stands for the Gospel Literature Outreach, where they do tremendous work spreading the Lord’s word around the world.
Recently, they ran a Mini Bible School over the course of two evenings entitled, ‘Christianity and the Healthy Mind’.
... It focussed on Mental Health, with it being such a pertinent issue in today’s society and rapidly increasing and how that reflects to a Christian lifestyle.
For a long time, countless people have believed that if you trust in the Lord God that you will never end up in such horrible circumstances, or somehow be immune to the inevitabilities of life but depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar etc. does not occur only in non believers.
From the brief moments I witnessed, before preparing to sell books on a bookstall, I realised how important it is to stress that it’s okay not to be okay, even when you are a Christian and especially when you consider yourself to have a very strong faith.
You’ve not done anything wrong, God hasn’t forsaken you and he certainly isn’t abandoning you when you go through troubling times, even when we feel incredibly alone.
In my head, I think sometimes that religious people can be more at risk of a very unhealthy mental state - forcing ourselves to believe we’re okay to focus on others instead of recognising that we need help ourselves, we need to call out to God.
God is there for us, no matter what and he’ll be there to guide us through our rough patches and understand the lessons we must take away from them.
We must realise that we have not failed anyone by understanding that we’re struggling, faith doesn’t promise us an easy road.
Be brave. You’re stronger than you will ever know. Be reassured that you are not alone and that your feelings are valid - Christian or not.
The most important thing is having a strong relationship with God, who can help you persevere through your challenges.
Pray out to him, not to alleviate your problems in the blink of an eye but to be beside you, encouraging you to strive forward and showing how incredibly loved you are.
The world cannot be appreciative of the light and beauty of life if it isn’t for a temporary darkness.
You will come out the other side. How long it will be? I don’t know but what I know for sure is that there is a God who loves us more than we will ever know, guiding us to a ‘Healthy Mind’ and loving life.
‘Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God.’ Psalm 42:5

Come along and help us raise funds in our community to help out an overseas community through our Helping Hand appeal! The Salvation Army works in 128 different countries and this event will support The Salvation Army in other countries who may need our help financially.
We are raising funds by having a Film night, which is free to come along to. The film will be Gnomeo and Juliet to tie in with Valentines day! However we will be having a buffet which will cost £2 per perso...n (£5 family ticket). We will also have a stall with cakes and other goodies for you to buy and help us with our fundraising.
Space is Limited to 60 places because of the catering and size of our hall, so please book early to avoid disappointment. (you can do this through messenger or by calling us on 01592 715914.)
If you have any other questions about this event please do not hesitate to contact us!
We hope to see you there!

Yesterday morning we thought about looking forward at Jesus and what we are looking forward to him doing in our lives this year.
Some of us also then attended the unity service at methilhill parish church where the theme was justice and we were challenged to think about what we can do to be closer to Jesus in tackling the injustices in our world.
