Extraordinary General Meeting
To be held at 7.30pm on 4th September 2018 in the Bullionfield Recreation Hall, 46 Main Street, Invergowrie.
This EGM is being called to agree the transfer of the current charity, Bullionfield Recreation Club, to a new charity, Bullionfield Recreation Club SCIO.
... There will be a single motion:
“It is agreed that Bullionfield Recreation Club shall transfer all its assets (the building and its cash balances) to the new Bullionfield Recreation Club SCIO. And that once the transfer been completed, Bullionfield Recreation Club will be dissolved.”
We need as many members as possible to attend. Who is a member? Participants in the badminton club and the carpet bowls club are automatically members. Anyone else in the area with an interest in the success of the Hall is also a member.
A SCIO is a limited liability structure that will mean that the members of the management committee are no longer personally liable financially. The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has been promoting this new legal structure and many charities, including other community halls, have already made the transition. The Trustees and the Management Committee will be replaced by a Board, the members of which will initially be the members of the current Management Committee. Going forwards, they will be elected by the members. While this is a significant move legally, in practice nothing will change: the Hall will continue to be run by a group of local volunteers for the benefit of the Invergowrie community. The charitable aims of the SCIO as approved by OSCR are almost same as those of the current charity. As the existing charity has no dissolution clauses in its Trust deeds, we have obtained agreement from OSCR to reorganise the charity so that the transfer can take place.

There have been a lot of changes to what's on at Bullionfield Hall of late - check out the calendar at https://bullionfieldhall.org.uk/bookings. html to see. And when there is nothing else on, the Hall is available for your own event or activity!

Welcome to our new bins! Bullionfield Hall now has 2 big new bins, serviced by Binn Skips. It costs more than the (free) council collection but should put paid to the problems of overflowing rubbish after parties. They work the same as the council bins - one for cans, plastic bottles, paper and the other for the rest. Glass still needs to be taken away (perhaps to the collection points in Invergowrie), please.

We have a new phone number, which you can call or text.
The number is 01382 250035.
We all have day jobs and often can't answer the phone during working hours, but if you leave a message we get notified and so we should be able to get back to you fairly quickly. But remember we are volunteers and can't always call back super-quick.

Our website is down for a little while it changes from one server to another. It should be back soon, but please bear with us meantime.

The Ceildh we planned for the end of the month has been cancelled due to lack of interest. Sorry to disappoint the (few) people who were hoping to come, but we'd only had a couple of enquiries about tickets.

Bullionfield Hall needs YOUR help! We are looking for 1-3 volunteers to help with managing bookings for Bullionfield Recreation Hall on Main Street. This mainly involves responding to requests and updating the booking calendar. It also means making sure that there is someone to let the party in, but that someone does not need to be you. It is a lot of work for one person (me at the moment) and it gets dicey when I am away or otherwise busy. Sharing it among a small group would make it much easier. All you need is a computer, tablet/iPad or a smart phone so as to be able to exchange emails and be able to access the booking calendar. If you would like to help, please respond to this post or email bookings@bullionfieldhall.org.uk. Thanks!

Good news if you are looking to hire a nice big room in Invergowrie for a party or other event - the hourly rate for Bullionfield Hall has been reduced to £15/hour, which means a 3 hour hire is now only £45. This new rate applies to new and existing bookings from today.

Bullionfield Hall will be holding a village ceilidh to blow away the winter blues on 24 February 2017! So yes save the date, but also - are there any local musicians who could form the band? And someone to be the caller - we don't all know the moves, after all. We might be able to pay you, but the main reward will be entertaining your fellow Invergowrians :-) Or perhaps you know a good already-formed ceilidh band that might be available?

The Bullionfield Hall bins have been taken away at last!
Now we have the problem of only having a single, small landfill bin. When you use the Hall, please help us by generating as little rubbish as possible and making the best use of the blue-lidded bin.

The continuing story of Bullionfield Hall's bins... The story so far: the council didn't leave us a new-style bin when they switched over to the new service and have been refusing (pun intended!) to collect the overflowing, smelly, old bins. Today we raised a formal complaint with them and now they have promised that they will finally give us a new small bin and take away the old ones, including emptying the blue-lidded bin which was been used as an overspill. When will this happen? "In the next 2 weeks", and meantime we have to leave them out on the pavement for collection. So here's hoping ... it's not the first time we have thought is was about to be sorted ... Meantime, we're sorry that they are partially blocking the pavement.

Honouring Jim Stewart
After this year's Annual General Meeting we honoured Jim Stewart, who has been a member of the club since 1946, making this year the 70th anniversary of him joining. In a short ceremony the Main Hall was renamed The James Stewart Hall.
Jim started off playing badminton and later became a key player in the carpet bowls team. He is still a regular player with the carpet bowls section. Along the way he joined the management committee (which he is still on) ...and became one of the Club's Trustees.
The ceremony was attended by cub members and trustees. Alex Mills made a short speech concerning Jim's involvement in the Club and then Jim was asked to unveil a plaque showing the new name. Until this point, Jim was unaware of what had been planned.

The Invergowrie Community Cinema in Bullionfield Hall this Saturday 21st November is "Django Unchained". It's what you expect from Quentin Tarantino: a stylishly-told story with a great cast playing great characters and accompanied by a great sound track. Certificate 18, tickets £5, doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Bring your own refreshments and a cushion.
