Burghead Visitor Centre

New members and visitors welcome at this meeting.

Thanks to Kathryn Munro for this information about the Findhorn and Burghead food riots, in 1847. The population were sufering hardship and hunger as there was little grain, and grain merchants were taking advantage of high prices and shipping all the local grain out of Burghead and Findhorn. So the people took the law into their own hands.....

If you have a spotting scope and want to see something a bit different, there's a small pod of White-beaked dolphins several kilometres out from Burghead heading towards Inverness.
White-beaked dolphins are typically seen further north and offshore. They're often mistaken for Orca due to their similar colouration and their prominent dorsal fin.

Burghead Beach is one of the six beaches in Scotland chosen for this tribute. We will find out soon where on Burghead beach it will be held, and will let you know

Burghead Beach is going to be even more special on November 11th than we realised - it's one of only six Scottish beaches chosen for the tributes to the WWI soldiers.

This is happening on Burghead beach on November 11th. More information as soon as it comes in

Wonderful views across the Firth and interesting history within the lookout. Well worth a vist.

When I moved to Burghead 6 years ago I renamed the top of the Visitor Centre DHQ (dolphin HQ) due to the amazing views and frequent sightings. My favourite place in Burghead! And the views from the large windows inside are fabulous too, with binoculars provided. Everyone is helpful and friendly.

This place is just lovely. Love a visit to the broche.

Had a super visit there today with my two boys who are 4&5. Lots of little activities for them to do. Watched dolphins jump from observatory window. Then visited the well down the road. Two very welcoming lovely people working there also. Definitely recommend a visit!

Great place to visit and fantastic views across the firth.

Great place to look out inside & out for marine life and bird watching.

Great outdoor spotting location al round. Just love it down there

Fantastic place of historical interest, looked after by friendly and knowledgeable people. And that doesn't even take into account the stunning situation, on the headland overlooking the Moray Firth, with views across to Easter Ross and Sutherland. Not to be missed!!!!

Fantastic lookout point from both inside and out giving clear views (weather permitting of course)right out to the horizon for spotting marine life and also birds. �����..Lovely friendly staff too.Great place.��

Beautiful views across the bays and of the village. Great place to be if you need to thinking time. Restful, scenic in all weather's and informative of life in times past.
