Well after four 18 hr shifts in a row... now enjoying a wee rest. Just waiting in the ward to go up for surgery on my gammy thumb. Been a busy few weeks trying to get as much done as possible, hopefully get back to work as soon as possible. In the meantime Katie & Julie will be able to produce most things, while I take on a consultancy role 🤣😂

Another wee collaboration with a very talented local poet/artist Gerry Loose. I had a very small part to play.... hand cutting some letters into a large piece of slate, and giving Gerry a hand with the installation at Caol Ruadh Sculpture Park for the forthcoming summer exhibition opening on Sunday 23rd June. Well worth a visit, stunning grounds, with amazing sculptures and art installations.

Nice to see the finished job.... bit of a tight deadline, but thanks to a crack installation team everything came together in the end. Hats off to Nyree and Louise for carting all the graphics panels up to Glasgow, armed with gaffer tape, wire, tools and assorted fixings...and installing them in true Blue Peter Fashion! Bute Signs & Graphics has been a DVLA Registered number plate supplier for a few years now and we now have the equipment all set up in our new premises, so if you need a plate for your trailer or a replacement set for your vehicle or motorbike ...give us a call or drop an email to butesigns@gmail.com and we can usually turn them around the same day... if not while u wait! Remember you will need proof of identity eg driving licence, utility bill, passport etc. And also proof of entitlement eg.. vehicle registration document (V5C), a retention document ((V778), a renewal reminder for road tax etc. Prices £12.50 per plate or £20 per set.

My old dad used to say he was going to build a house on this spot looking over scalpsie bay when he won the pools !! I’m sure his neighbour to be might have had something to say about that!

Watching the cnc router cut letters in oak is just as satisfying as cutting letters by hand. And a damn site quicker ! The latest batch of waymarking posts commissioned by Bute Conservation Trust have just been recently delivered to Robert Currie Snr who is erecting them at various locations around the Island. I think I got the easy part of the job !!

Good to see the Jam Jar open again .... just seems like yesterday I was cutting this into a nice piece of sandstone for one of the lintels. I’ll do anything for a free cream scone😋

This snazzy little graphic was a bit of a challenge.... printed the same on both sides.... with optically clear adhesive for application to windows.. so that it’s viewable from outside and inside..... there’s a lot more to a double sided sticker than you would think....see if u can guess which local establishment it’s going to appear in soon !!!! Oh.... meant to add there’s another layer of blockout material sandwiched between to stop the image on one side showing through to the other side.

Apologies to anyone trying to get hold of me by email for the past few days.... we are in the middle of moving domain names to another thingy...in preparation of dragging my websites into the 21st century... not before time I hear you all say!! End of another busy week, squeezed these two nice wee jobs in today. Custom designed Etched glass graphic for a bathroom door and a slate house sign. Variety is the spice of life as my old dad used to say!😊 Time for a well earned cold corona🍻

Just finished a second session with social media consultant Gary Ennis of NSDesign. Really got into the nitty gritty of Facebook... absolutely fascinating and mind blowingly powerful business tool! I promise not to bore you all to death with endless posts.... maybe just a wee update now and again on what we’ve been up to ! If anyone out there is struggling to get to grips with Social Media.. (I bet even those of you who use it regularly ... would learn tons of relevant stuff!) I would highly recommend a couple of sessions with Gary. There may even be funding available via Business Gateway for eligible small businesses.
