ūü¶čButterflies Nursery School is celebrating 9 years of success, providing families in and around Dundee with excellent early learning and child care facilities.
Our Kingsway East setting turns 4 this month and we are delighted to inform families that we have availability across the 3 age groups. Under 2years, 2-3years & 3-5years. Our Emmock woods setting turns 9 this month with spaces available for children aged 1-2years and 2-5 years. We also now offer pre-school funding for... children 3 and over in both of our settings. We encourage parents / carers to contact us at your earliest convenience as spaces are limitedūüėĄ
Children in our care are offered a wide variety of learning opportunities, we have a very responsive approach and encourage child led activities and learning. We promote outdoor activities and pride ourselves on this being one of our many strengths. We love our local community links and visiting the near by care homes to engage with the elderly is favoured by all.
Our Care Inspectorate reports are available online at www.careinspectorate.com where you can read about our very good care and support for your little ones ‚≠źÔłŹ‚≠źÔłŹ‚≠źÔłŹ‚≠źÔłŹ‚≠źÔłŹ

“What the service does well
Butterflies Nursery provided a warm, welcoming and nurturing ethos for children and families. Strong, positive relationships between staff, children and families were evident throughout the inspection, and commented on specifically by parents we spoke to. As a result, children were confident and self-assured within the nursery, impactin...g positively on their overall development. Children's creativity and learning was well supported throughout the nursery, and in particular in the large, enclosed outdoor play spaces. We observed children to have magical adventures in their boat, and explore dens with their friends and staff. Positive behaviour was role modelled by staff, and children from the youngest age were encouraged to be kind and caring towards their peers. This resulted in a respectful ethos throughout the nursery. Children's transitions were very well planned for, with schedules providing clear details of this. Children's developmental stages and plans were recorded in their folders and shared between staff as part of their transition to support continuity in their care. Very good communication across the nursery team provided a clarity and consistency to children's experiences. Staff reported feeling very well supported by the current management team, and were included in all aspects of the nursery development. The staff team were reflective practitioners, who shared with us their training and impact of this on their practice. Staff also shared with us their thoughts on the positive changes within the nursery over the last year. Staff told us they felt they had ownership of their areas, whilst under clear guidance and support from the manager. This contributed to the staff team feeling valued within the nursery. A good variety of training was attended by staff, contributing positively to their ongoing professional development. Staff commented highly on the amount and quality of training they received at the service. Training was shared with parents on the nursery Facebook page, which kept parents informed of staff skills and knowledge. Parents commented positively on the use of the Facebook page, resulting in them feeling very included in the life of the nursery. There was a robust quality assurance system and improvement plan in place which reflected the vision and values of the nursery.‚ÄĚ

Thank you to the Firemen at our local fire station for coming out to the nursery to discuss with the children how to keep safe and what to do in an emergency. The children enjoyed exploring the fire engine and having a turn of the hoseūüėĀūüöí
Our 'people who help us' topic has been amazing as the children have explored a range of people who help us within our environment whilst learning how to keep safe ūüėä

The children took part in pond dipping with the park ranger at Trottick Ponds. They found a range of mini beasts whilst on their trip and learnt new facts about a range of wildlife living in the pond ūüćĀūüźěūüźĚūüźüūüĆ≤ūüćĀ
