“This is a delicious dish. The sprouts are quartered which stops them being overcooked and brown, or worse, undercooked and crisp. I use vac pac chestnuts as they are good, tasty and easy to use. If you have time on your hands, roast whole chestnuts on an open fire. The addition of orange and thyme gives a sense of Christmas. Just be careful not to overcook the meat as it can easily become dry and tough.”

“We often use this classic way of cooking pork belly at Cafe St Honoré. It’s simple: skin removed, boned out, seasoned, rolled, tied, braised, chilled, then cut and pan fried. The process creates a wonderful taste that’s not fatty, with the fennel seed and lemon helping to cut through the richness. Buttery champ is so good with the pork, and the addition of sage is classic, but optional.”

Wonderful little restaurant! My wife and I had a wonderful evening! Food was cooked to perfection!

Went in for a leisurely lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Food excellent, lovely menu otions, good portion sizes, staff attentive without being in any way intrusive. We could have spent the whole afternoon there very happily!

We love this wonderful place. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We always visit on Christmas week for a well deserved lunch after all the stresses of preparing for the big day are over and have now begun visiting whenever we have something to celebrate. Haven't had a bad dish yet, it's just lovely.

We found you by chance on Saturday while wandering the streets of Edinburgh. We enjoyed our experience from start to finish. The food was out of this world and we can safely say that it was the best food we have ever tasted. The surroundings were comfortable, quaint and romantic. The staff were polite, knowledgable and couldn't do enough to ensure our time there was nothing short of perfect. It was an anniversary meal out that we won't forget in a hurry and we will most certainly visit you again on our next trip to Edinburgh.

We are never disappointed when we eat at Cafe St Honore. Fresh, delicious food served in a quiet, friendly manner. One of our favourite haunts.

Scrumptious Sunday lunch today. Wonderful staff, quaint surroundings and great drink choices. The black pudding rosti was divine. Catered wonderfully for our three year old son who devoured the rooster fries, red cabbage and caramel ice cream. Thank you!

My favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. They take the best of Scottish produce from a wide range of specialist producers, artisans and suppliers, and produce classic and original dishes.



Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere is relaxed.

Mr and Mrs Ryan have just enjoyed lunch. Very good menu choice and well looked after by all the staff. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food and atmosphere, not to mention the service. Fab Shetland mussels followed by roe deer. Lovely Sancerre and not quite so fab Fleurie. Recommended. Best to book ahead, you want to eat on ground floor.

Food was excellent and the service just as impressive. The decor is authentic French with a superb wine list, with great variety. With new menu's every day, what can be any better? The restaurant itself is tucked away, off the beaten track, but if thats taught me anything, thats where you find the best places.

Excellent meal here last night. The menu is mostly organic and certainly full of local produce and is refreshed daily. The wine list was great with a good variety of wines and prices. The staff were friendly and efficient and didn't bother us at all. We will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone looking for an excellent French meal. Very authentic.

Dined here last night, food was utterly delicious and the atmosphere was like those Parisian cafes where the food is amazing but they don’t make a big deal about it, it all seemed effortless but still beautifully crafted. Staff were welcoming and helpful but left us in peace to enjoy our meal. Absolutely fabulous, cannot recommend it highly enough, a little gem!

Another divine lunch eaten yesterday. Scallops to die for, Beef Shin stopped all conversation (a few happy sighs aside) and the Chocolate Nemesis had me in raptures. Thanks to Chef Forbes and all the team for yet another exceptional dining experience. And the gluten free bread you had yesterday was AMAZING!
