About Caged Beastie

We develop and deliver creative learning opportunities in Scotland and internationally and use creative media as a tool for consultation and development.

Caged Beastie Description

Caged Beastie was formed in 2004 by artist Martin Ayres. Our company exists to use creative media as a tool for consultation and development throughout Scotland and beyond. In recent years we have delivered projects in local authorities across Scotland, in Shirotori in Japan, in Alaska’s North Slope Borough, in schools in the Port Harcourt area of Nigeria and most recently in cities across Europe including Athens, Marseille, Den Haag and Rome.

Much of our work involves the use of visual media to get a message across and we work with people to explore ideas and equip them with skills and confidence to do this. Although all of our digital projects and installations retain a visual arts focus we work collaboratively with Drama practitioners, storytellers, filmmakers, musicians and other artists to ensure our projects provide a vibrant and exciting experience for participants and for the schools and agencies we serve.

In Scotland, we design projects to enhance the Curriculum for Excellence and we are always keen to discuss ideas with schools who would like to use the arts in this context. We also work with a variety of agencies to use the arts as a tool for consultation and to effect change by increasing people's involvement in the decisions that affect their lives.

The photos on this page illustrate a small sample of recent projects. If you’d like to know more about how you or your organization might benefit from an involvement with Caged Beastie please feel free to get in touch.
