PROJECT UPDATE
Well what a roller coaster couple months it’s been for the Cairn Velo project.
Kickstarter ... campaign while it had not hit its target has had a big impact in the cycling community where we have had great response which the Team at Cairn Velo would like to thank everyone from the fantastic kind pledgers to those who got behind the project commenting, sharing, liking on our social media sites.
Project along with the Cairn Velo brand has only just got started so while it didn’t reach its initial £50k target there is so much to come from what has been achieved so far. It has attracted some interest which the Team are working on, all very positive as Cairn Velo continue the journey of setting up Scotland’s first women and Men’s professional cycling team.
Where now as comments in above Cairn is working on the interest shown from the initial launch/campaign. The Brand will be continuing to build on what has already been achieved. The Cairn Velo products from bikes, clothing to merchandise are all still available to buy where customers can get in touch with one of our advisors through links via our social media sites.

PROJECT UPDATE
Hi all it has been a busy first month with the Cairn Velo project from the initial launch of our Kickstarter campaign to being out and about at meetings with potential customers, talks with potential sponsors along with working with our manufacturers on bikes, clothing and merchandise. This is a long term project where phase one of the Kickstarter campaign has gotten us lots of exposure, loads of likes and comments on our social media channels, great positive m...essages coming in from far and wide saying how this is a project much needed for the further development of the sport and more so the athletes. The campaign started well albeit it has slowed down in the recent couple weeks where we are now at 11% of our future target of £50,000. We would like to take this opportunity to thanks every one of the 48 backers who have supported the campaign till now with 25 days still to go there will be a big push towards the finish.
Asks Just incase you need a reminder of what we are trying to achieve, Cairn Velo is a bicycle company set up with the sole purpose of funding Scotland's first professional cycle racing team from the profits of sales of bikes and merchandise.
Why We are excited about this as we look to change how Pro cycling is funded. The current model is not sustainable and rarely offers a future after a rider has finished racing. Here at Cairn Velo the team will support and create opportunities for team members to progress past a racing career into other roles to keep expertise and experience in the sport for future generations, with the end goal to have the have team owned and operated by people with direct experience of the sport. The team will have UK management and a UK base in Glasgow, but will be truly international both in terms of its rider roster and the program of racing with televised National and International events in the UK as well as a global competition calendar of internationally ranked UCI events.
We Believe that over time Cairn Velo is a sustainable model one that will create opportunity both for riders and sponsors locally and internationally showcasing the best of what Scotland has to offer.

When you say 'custom carbon’ do you really mean custom? Or is it an assembly of the closest sized top and down tubes assembled into head and seat tube clusters? Because unless you’re talking to the millimetre, and to the degree on each tube and joint then it’s really just a tweaked, hand built frame.
Epoca, who make our Cairn Velo carbon frames custom cut and mitre each tube with the angles set in the jig. From there the frame has each joint wrapped in cut carbon lay-up and i...s then hand finished. Frames built by hand, by Italian artisans, they way they have been since 1952. Regardless of the material used, the skills are similar and the results outstanding.
And we make sure that each of those dimensions your frame is being built to are accurate by enlisting the help of one of Italy’s finest bio-mechanists, Guiseppe Gianecchini. He’s an ex-pro and a full-time bike fitter, not a video camera and an algorithm. I'm going to share this again because there's been a few questions about what it's all about.
This project was a collaboration of efforts by Graeme Herd, Iain Grant, John Johnstone, Eileen Roe, Evan Oliphant and Wilson Renwick.

Wilson’s professional career was in the sport of Horse Racing. In his 15 years as a professional Jockey he amassed nearly 500 wins which saw him a regular in the top rank of Jockeys in the UK, riding for leading owners and trainers across Great Britain and Ireland.... During this time he sat on the board of the Professional Jockey s Association and was Jockeys Safety Officer of the North of England and Scotland. In 2015 as his career was reaching a high point he suffered a career ending injury breaking his neck, jaw and collar bone which resulted in nerve damage to his left arm. Already a keen cyclist Wilson decided a switch to the bike was in order and dedicated himself to cycling. In the 2 years since the switch he has achieved success in the domestic Road Race and Time Trial scene and in overseas UCI single day and multi stage races. A recent switch to the track resulted in a top 20 finish in the National Track champs where he competed in the 4k Individual Pursuit. Having made his living as a professional athlete Wilson knows what it takes to succeed and excelin sport at the highest level.

Joining Eileen Roe as one of our partner athletes is former Professional rider Evan Oliphant. Ev is another Commie Games regular with three under his belt. A one time British Champion and seven time Scottish Road Race Champion, his experience has been invaluable. He certainly knows his bikes!
