Take a break from the Christmas shopping this Sunday and do something to help wildlife - still places left on this bird and bat box building event!

Thank YOU! ...for supporting Winterfest last weekend. It's organised by Callander Community Development Trust with help from local groups, businesses and many individual volunteers.
Callander Amateur Operatic Society and the Junior Choir provided a Winter Warmer opening concert, Rotary Club of Callander and West Perthshire tempted us in to their Craft Fair, and Callander Hostel ran an exciting Family Disco. Rusty Strings with guest Jamie MacDougall entertained a huge audience... to a varied musical programme, McLaren Leisure had an Elves Workshop and a craft making session followed by the chance to meet canine visitors from Glendrick Roost. McLaren High School Pipe Band playing in the Square and a Young People’s Carol Service rounded off the weekend.
Central to it all was the switch-on of the Christmas tree lights after Santa led the Round Table’s parade down Main Street to the Square where a huge crowd watched Citizen of the Year, Colin Clark, perform the countdown, the lights sparkled... and the band (Callander Brass) played on.
The organisers are also grateful to Cambusmore Estate who donated the magnificent tree, Mhor Bread for the mince pies and Deli Ecosse for mulled wine. Support funding came from the Callander Cooperative Community Fund.
Thanks also to the local fire service for putting up and decorating the tree and their presence to ensure safety and give youngsters a shot on the tender, Applejacks for technical stuff like ladders and coffee for stewards, and Lynne Schroder for providing two large gazebos and teaching her novice helpers how to construct and dismantle them the adult way!
Malin Heen, who refurbished the chandeliers for Main Street lamp posts, and George Barrie who reached the heights to install them have added a silver twinkle to these dark nights. The elves and snowman yarn bombing of the bollards in the Square were the work of Julie at Deli Ecosse and the Meet and Make group.
Not to be overlooked are the many families who created wonderful fancy dress costumes for their children, and dogs too, and all in our community who donated generously to several chosen charities, and supported our Winterfest 2018.

Thank you Cambusmore Estate for the beautiful Christmas tree in Ancaster Square. And thank you to Lynne Schroder - Artist and Applejacks for providing decorations and Callander Community Fire Station for putting it up for us! And have you noticed our unique Scandi-style lights? Thank you to Malin Heen for making these.
Don't miss the light switch on by citizen of the year Colin Clark 4pm in Ancaster Square. Mince pies and mulled wine will be served by Callander Community Development Trust, courtesy of sponsors Mhor Bread and Deli Ecosse.
