Cambridge Central Mosque Description

The Cambridge Central Mosque is the first purpose-built mosque in Cambridge, UK and opened in the Spring of 2019.

The facility is dedicated to the spiritual and social welfare of the city’s estimated six thousand Muslims, including many visiting students, but also serves as a cultural bridge fostering greater understanding between communities. It has a strong educational component, providing an infrastructure and support for learning and research.

The Mosque does not follow or expect adherence to any particular school of Islam and welcomse worshippers from every part of the Muslim family, of both genders.

Reflecting Islam’s contribution to contemporary debates over sustainability, the Mosque incorporates significant design features that minimise carbon emission and emphasise the role of faith in promoting responsible management of the earth’s resources.
