Camhs Nhs Shetland Description

CAMHS provides a service to children and young people up to 16 years of age (and 18 if still in education), who are experiencing complex and significant difficulties with their mental and emotional health. CAMHS can provide support for mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, psychotic disorders and trauma.

We are a specialist service, made up of people from a number of different professions including nursing, psychiatry and clinical psychology. All staff have significant experience working with children, young people and their families.

It is common for young people to experience difficulties with their emotional and mental health whilst growing up. For lots of young people, they will be able to get support from people that they already know such as their friends, teachers and other adults. There are also lots of great websites that can provide self-help materials and information, for young people who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health. Below are a list of useful websites that provide information and self-help materials on topics such as anxiety and depression.

Referrals can also be made by Children and Young People's Services, schools, school nurses and other professionals.
