DIVINE OFFICE - PRAYER OF THE CHURCH Are you interested in praying the Divine Office (Prayer of the Church) or learning how to pray it? The Divine Office is the 4-weekly cycle of psalms, readings and canticles that priests and religious are obliged to recite but which the laity are also encouraged to recite as part of an ordered and structured prayer life. It has the benefit of also keeping one in touch with the Church’s liturgical calendar. In Canmore, as of the first prope...r week of term, Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer are recited in St Margaret’s chapel (first floor) from Monday to Friday at the following times:
Morning Prayer: 8:30am (*Tuesdays 9:00am)
Evening Prayer: 5:10pm
All are welcome.

DANTE STUDY GROUP - DR REBEKAH LAMB
“Dante and Shakespeare divide the modern world between them; there is no third.” --T.S. Eliot. Canmore Catholic Chaplaincy is delighted to invite students to join a new Dante Study Group, starting up this academic year at Canmore on Thursdays 7:30-8-30pm in the front room. Just bring along a copy of The Divine Comedy (no specific translation required), and explore Dante’s poetic vision of God’s love for us, “the love that moves the Sun and... the other stars.” The group will be led by Dr Rebekah Lamb. Dr Lamb is the newest member of staff at St Mary’s School of Divinity and is a Lecturer in the department of Theology, Imagination and the Arts. We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting new venture. To sign up, just let us know on this post. Any questions, contact Dr Lamb at rl89@st-andrews.ac.uk

FRESHERS’ WEEK 2018 Are you a Catholic and coming to St Andrews this year? Why not get involved in Canmore Catholic Chaplaincy and our Catholic Society.
Canmore is at 24 The Scores - on the most exclusive street in Scotland! Here you’ll find a great ‘home from home’ where you can meet fellow Catholics who believe in Christ and his Church and are trying to live out their faith in what can often be a challenging environment.
... We have lots of events going on throughout the year like frequent talks by guest speakers and Sunday Suppers after Sunday evening Mass. But it is also just a place of faith, friendship and fun where people gather for prayer and social events or just drop in for a casual cup of tea and a chat!
CathSoc will be at Freshers’ Fayre, of course, for you to join up. But we have a whole list of events taking place each day of Freshers’ Week where you can also join. Check it out below! Be sure to ‘like’ the St Andrews University Catholic Society Facebook page too in order to follow all our events. We look forward to meeting you - or welcoming you back.

A final congratulations to some of our graduates of 2018

Congratulations to.... Sr Myriam Harrod who, on Friday 22 June, was clothed as a Benedictine novice in Stanbrook Abbey, Yorkshire. Sr Myriam would have been known as Alexandra Harrod and she lived in Canmore during her time here in St Andrews where she read history (2002-2006). She was greatly involved in the Catholic Society. After graduation, she went on to become Chaplaincy assistant at Ampleforth Abbey School (2006-2010) and Chaplaincy assistant at the University of Oxford (2010-2017). Please pray for her as she continues in her vocation as a Benedictine nun with a view to making her solemn profession in a few years time. ‘Ever to excel’
