Went to the Canny Man on the spur of moment with my son and daughter. The restaurant was busy but the staff were able to find us a lovely table at the back of the restaurant. The staff were really helpful as I have special dietary needs. The food was fantastic. I especially enjoyed my dessert which was a massive meringue with fruit and cream. The staff were attentive and everything was to our satisfaction.

Thats the 2nd time my husband and i have been. The 1st time we got the fish and chips. It was a Sunday afternoon and very busy. The music was fab and the staff were luvly. We went yesterday and got the steak pie. Honestly...it was so tasty. I wud deffo get it again. Looking forward to my 3rd time going back �

On the spur of the moment, we fancied a family meal out, but given that it was a Sunday of a bank holiday weekend at 6:00pm, we called a few restaurants only to be told that they were fully booked.



When I called The Canny Man, however, saying that it was a total long shot but did they have a table for three available, they put me on hold and I could hear them desperately trying to move tables around and figure out if they could squeeze us in, which they did. I felt terrible for causing so much trouble, but they were really lovely about it.



When we arrived, we actually had a really good table on the mezzanine area. From the moment we arrived until we left, we had phenomenal service from all the staff we encountered. I actually find good customer service to be rare these days, so I was really impressed at the service, especially on a busy Sunday evening.



The food was gorgeous, absolutely no complaints at all - the steak pie in particular was just beautiful, I'm still dreaming of it!

Starter : Goats Cheese with Red Onion Jam. Strawberry black pepper salad with balsamic vinegar...... yum!!!!

Burger : beautifully seasons and a big chunk of lovely burger. Even the side salad was perfectly dressed

Pizza : crisp base, cracking topping authentic tasting. Hubby said best outside Italy so far!

Dessert: churros yum, cheesecake,yummm , Nutella brûlée ���



Most definitely be back. Best meal for months. Thanks guys.

I went to the Canny Man today for lunch with a friend. We were lucky enough to get the best seats next to the roaring fire. The staff were very nice and helpful and the food was gorgeous. I had the best cappucino I have had in ages and the banoffee brulee was to die for. Lots of choice for a gluten free diet and two veggie main courses to choose from which suited us.

I was in today with family , we had a lovely meal , staff were lovely and attentive , certainly no complaints from any of us

Had our Christmas meal at Lugton. Second year we have done this. Food superb. Staff so pleasant and helpful, Entire meal willingly doggy bagged for son who was unable to be there. He appreciated it so much still getting the wonderful meal. Well done Canny Man.

Enjoyed the Ceilidh music session on Sunday afternoon very much. It's on once a fortnight. Staff were all very pleasant and efficient. We had eaten before we arrived so we didn't sample the food however all our friends who did said it was first class. We will definately be trying the food on our next visit. Very soon hopefully. Highly recommended and plenty of parking.

Came here last night for my 21st birthday meal. There were five adults and three kids and we all absolutely loved it! The meal was so fresh and the service was amazing�, can’t thank the staff enough for making the night so lovely, always making sure everything was perfect for our night. Thank you again can’t wait to come back xxxxx

Great local restaurant, quick service, nice staff, great food & cocktail, good outside play area for kids! Love coming here for dinner � however only reason I gave 4 stars is because the baby high chairs aren’t great, could do with having a better strap and a table otherwise highly recommend.

One of the reasons we went to the canny man was the kids play area unfortunately yesterday Saturday 9th June it was out of order on a really busy day. Food was good one complaint out the group of six people, not bad. Servic was great staff very accommodating. Would definitely eat here again.

Food and service was good, only problem we had was that they allowed dogs into the restaurant. This is surely not hygienic and against food hygiene rules. I did not appreciate a dog sniffing around as we ate our lunch.

My daughter and I popped in here for a late Saturday lunch. First visit for a few years and I'm pretty sure we won't be back on a hurry. The menu has nothing different to offer - standard pub fare. My daughter ordered the chargrilled chicken burger and I had the butterfly chicken breasts with peppercorn and brandy sauce. Both were pleasant enough but pretty bland. Added to that we had to wait for the mayonnaise we had asked for along with the chicken burger. We asked one of the servers over to the table to ask for this but she seemed to forget we had asked for her. After waiting another 5 minutes I asked another server who had been heading back to the kitchen. Her attitude could only be described as sullen and extremely unhelpful. No apology for the delay and bearing in mind there is a charge for a small dish of mayo and garlic mayo, this was a very poor response. Bill for the above with 2 soft drinks and a side of garlic bead (4 slices) was £27.95.

All in all, a pretty disappointing experience with the most memorable thing being the surly server.

Came here tonight and had our meal and the service was terrible the glass I had hasn't been washed properly as I could taste soap,the Cullen skink was full of leeks,potatoes were hard and fish was like rubber,the skin on garlic chicken breast was more like a thigh,beef olives were burnt around the edges and the rhubarb sponge was stale as if it had been sitting for days.very disappointed have been a few times before and it was good but after our experience this time we won't be back

Been coming here for years with family and always loved the food and service, however last week when we dined it was not great at all...out of 9 of us only 2 enjoyed the food and service seemed rushed and stressed. Disappointing as we used to love it here!
