Nice distillery very generous with tasting good in shop service from Emma and brilliant discount offer but disappointed we could not do a tour because of maintenance work

We were unable to get a tour due to a refurbishment taking place but spent ages in the shop chatting to staff and enjoying tastings.
Very friendly, helpful and informed.
We'll be back for a tour when we come back.

I had never had Caol Ila before my visit but this quickly became one of my favorite Scotches. Nice and peaty, but a little less smoky than the other Islays. Very nice staff in a small but nice tasting room. One of the few I liked enough to buy a bottle from.

I went on the standard distillery tour which was interesting and good value for money. It was £6 and tour lasted around 45 minutes and then each person on the tour got two complimentary drams of whiskey- and you get to keep the glass afterwards!

The distillery buildings are actually quite ugly 1970s blocks- but this is offset by the fact that it has spectacular views over Jura.

The cask strength tour is just great. Very recommendable. Too sad you can't fill your own bottle.

Coal ila sits as a testament to modernization in a beautiful setting on the shore of Islay. The tour is standard for a distillery and the warehouse tasting is broad and in a lovely new facility outside of the warehouse. Of all the islay distilleries this one felt the most commercialized. It was still a great experience even if it wasn't as gritty.

Cail Ila is in a rather big contrast to other distilleries on Islay, huge and industrialized. Unfortunately we could get a tour because there was some work ongoing, but we got a free taste of two expressions and a nice chat with a girl in visitor center.

visited for my eightieth birthday and a had whale of a time. great whisky and such a wonderful tour such friendly helpful staff please attend if in the area

User

Just looks like a big industrial unit, whereas other islay distilleries make an effort with presentation and appearance
Great whisky though and magnificent views of Jura
