TL;DR - Especially if you're a student, do NOT go with castle.

Before we moved in, Castle charged us for our background checks without informing us of our option to find our own agency, a practise which we later learned to be illegal.

Upon moving in, we reported many, many problems with the flat, including but not limited to a cracked window in the lounge, clutter from the previous tenants (packaging etc) and requirement of a deep clean (we even found cigarette butts). None of these concerns were ever addressed.

In addition, in spite of the fact that the flat was left cleaner than it was when we moved in, Castle has refused to return our deposit, even citing many of the problems we had with the flat as causes. When I phoned for clarification, Castle claimed they have no record of us ever complaining about the flat.

Almost every aspect of dealing with Castle has been a nightmare. The people in the office are smarmy and unhelpful and they promise to deal with problems but have always conveniently forgotten when pressed. If you're thinking of going with Castle, I'd strongly advise that you reconsider.

literally the WORST letting agent that I have ever come across. not only has it taken me nearly two months to get a viewing to literally any flat!!! but then they cancelled on me 20 minutes before. I live more than an hour away!!!!!!! not only that but then when I eventually gave up on actually seeing the flats I sent then an email asking for the forms to fill in to sort out a deposit because they have messed me around for so long I need to move right now with nowhere to go... they then responded to that email with "to arrange a viewing please call on the office on...." I can not even begin to describe the anger I feel towards this company. I have been trying to move for over two months and haven't had a single flat viewing!!!!!!!!!!

Had the pleasure of renting through castle for the last 4 months now and they certainly helped make my move effortless. They advised me of everything I needed up front and the house was immaculate for me moving in. All staff have been extremely helpful with any questions I've had when I call in and the issue I had with a leak was resolved completely within 3 days without any major disruption... Highly recommend this agency!!!

Excellent Letting Agency. Castle Residential manage over 30 properties for me as I am often out the country due to work commitments, so cannot self manage. I have been using their property management service for 8 years now and having tried 3 other letting agents in the past, I can say they are by far the best letting agent I have dealt with in Scotland. They are HONEST which is the most important quality for me and they are very professional in their manner. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED LETTING AGENT.

Landlord Review: I found the the staff very helpful and professional, and must highlight Daryl for particular credit and sheer ability. The agency is well run overall and quite flexible - they are also quick to respond to query's or messages.

My only negative points were associated with payments to Landlords. Rents were generally transferred on the 10th of the month (but sometimes later) which is a long wait given that the agents receive it on the 1st. Equally, when they had a few system issues that delayed these payments further, they didn't bother to advise their clients until it was eventually queried. I pointed out that a simple group email notification would have served to make their landlords aware of potential delays.

I would recommend this company and would use them again but suggest you might want to negotiate Agreement terms first.

Needed help looking for a property for my daughter as she is just starting university in Paisley and I'm so lucky I found castle,they helped her go through everything and kept me in the loop as well. thought all in all it was a great experience for the both of us.:)

Tried my luck with a couple of letting agents in Paisley with no luck in finding a flat that would suit me until I popped in to castle residential on the off chance they could help me find what I was looking for. From the moment I walked in I was welcomed warmly by not just the lady at the front desk but all the staff looked up and flashed me a smile and a hello which was a big change to the doom and gloom I'm used to and it's the same every time I need to pop in to the office. From there they helped me arrange everything until I was comfy in my new property I had all the help I needed and more which made finding a new property stress free.

Phoned this company with a problem on 4 separate occasions over the last few weeks. Was advised someone would call me back to discuss. As I heard from no one, I called again, left message on ansaphone & got no answer to that, not even a courtesy call to say it's being dealt with or some sort of contact. Absolutely nothing! Completely ignored! A disgrace!

Absolutely horrible experience. Kept that flat spotless and deep cleaned before I left yet charged for 'minimal' cleaning?! There was nothing to clean!! I didn't paint walls or decorate as preferred by landlord, filled in any holes from pictures hung. Cleaned windows, bleached bathrooms and kitchen and lino flooring, dusted and hoovered.
I was mugged and PAID MYSELF to change locks, dropping in new keys to agency, then was told landlord had to PAY HIMSELF TO CHANGE LOCKS? No.
Was awaiting my deposit back to pay the last months rent and treated with absolute rudeness and incompetancy. I done absolutely everything correctly. Put everything in writing and was told 'they couldn't find the emails'. They are very rude on the phone. I was a good tenant. Kept the house spotless, kept my floor of close cleaned, paid my rent ON TIME every month until the Last month as was awaiting my deposit.
Nothing was ever followed through by letting agency. I feel for the landlord, because it is the letting agency to blame, not the tenant.
Lovely flat, super attentive landlord (when agency even notified him of anything), but deplorable agency lacking professionalism in my opinion. Very disappointed. Since learned of others having the same opinion. Awkward, Awkward, Awkward.

Excellent agency , from the initial call to the office to enquire about properties . Then the viewings with Jamie , who seems to know Paisley and Glasgow inside out !! Then Laura at the office made the whole lease signing process a doddle :-)

Even when a problem occurs , like the washer stopped working . Thomas at the office organised the appliance engineer within 2 hours of my call !!! And it had to be replaced and that was completed the next very next day by contractors , who seem to be carefully selected by castle to deliver a service to their high standards .

Very happy and I wouldn't go elsewhere . Hope it helps you ;-)

I have recently used cr and can honestly say I've had a good experience, the staff are friendly and professional, Gary recently carried out an inspection and could not have been any nicer I would highly recommend.

I have tried various letting companies over the years and I would recommend Castle over the others that I tried. The people in the administration dept and Thomas in the maintenance dept have all been very easy to deal with and are easily contactable.
