Yesterday I had a wee play session in the studio, instead of production throwing, as I'm having trouble with my right arm. The result was two toad houses for my garden! I'm also working on a 'totempole' style of sculpture for the garden. It's fun to just play and be silly sometimes! 😁

What has made you happy today? Seeing a table full of swirly tot cups, creamers and bowls sitting in the sunshine waiting to be bisced does it for me! 😊 And giving myself a wee break from my usual work, I am now about to make a couple of wee toad houses for my garden. As you do! 😁

I'm absolutely not a professional website designer.... In fact I have never made a website before! But somehow I managed to clobber together this: www.theweeviking.com It's still not exactly how I would like it, still a lot of tweaking to do, but at least it works! 😁

Potter friends: what fabric do you use for your exhibition stands? I am looking for some new fabric (probably mid grey), something that perhaps doesn't need ironing between each show, a bit more heavy duty than my usual black sheets! A friend uses something called scuba (?), but it's really stretchy, so doesn't wrap very well around corners/sides of tables
Any suggestions??

I attended a workshop weekend with the Scottish Potters Association in the charming little village of Pennan this weekend. The workshop itself challenged me from stepping outside my comfort zone, which was very refreshing. We also did a communal piece, a tile mural of Pennan bay, where each member of the committee got one rectangle to complete. Great fun, and a lovely end result! And of course, being in a beautiful seaside cove, I had to go out and do some beach combing!

Current temperature in my studio according to my kiln controller. Sitting with a heater directed at my legs and a heat pad on my chair, with a mug of hot coffee to warm my hands on, wearing a long sleeved t-shirt t-shirt, a merino wool top and a fleece jacket. Working on a commission, and can just about feel my hands. Oh, the blissful life of a potter! 😂

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

Last day of our Kirriemuir Festive Pop-up Shop. Where has the time gone????

User

It's the last weekend of the pop-up shop! Come and see all the gorgeous work we still have for sale, and finish your Christmas shopping. Bargains galore, too, as several artists have discounted prices for the last few days! 6-8 High Street, Kirriemuir. 10-5 both days.

I'm in the pop-up shop again today, and my wee shell dishes are hot-footing it off the shelves! Must see if I have more big and medium ones in the studio....

Our wonderful pop-up shop will be open for another week! If you still haven't managed to come and visit, don't worry. We're open until the 22nd December, 10-5 daily!

Looking for a wee present for someone, but stuck for ideas? How about one of these wee porcelain tot cups (£15) and a wee bottle of their favourite tipple? A wee dram served in a gorgeous hand-crafted tot cup, preferrably in front of a roaring log fire.... It doesn't get much more 'hygge' than that!
The tot cups come in three colours (teal, green or turquoise), and are available from the awesome Pretty Fly gallery in Broughty Ferry, or from our wonderful pop-up shop on the High Street in Kirriemuir.
I was at the Farmer's Market in Forfar today and treated myself to a selection box of wee gin liqueurs from the lovely Gin Bothy, who are based near Kirriemuir. For illustrative purposes only, of course. The sacrifices I make for my work!! ;-)

Our lovely pop-up shop in Kirriemuir will now be open for another week! 😁

Oooooooooooooh!!!!!!!

I'm not in the pop-up shop tomorrow (apart from opening up in the morning), but if you're in the area, it's well worth the visit! How about some Christmas shopping for unique hand crafted loveliness, followed by a coffee and scrummy cake at 88's around the corner??

User

I'm in the pop-up shop in Kirriemuir again today, this time with the lovely Ros Macdonald of Inky Works. It's a horrible day outside, but we have gorgeous work on display, music and chocolate! 😁

My gnomes have been trotting off the shelves in the pop-up shop. All baby gnomes and girl gnomes are gone, just daddy gnomes left. However, there might be a couple lurking in the last glaze firing I put on.....
