Come to our first event of term ❗️TODAY❗️, where Dr. John Thompson will discuss the history of post-war US foreign policy in the context of Trump's presidency.
We shall explore the origins and consequences of US international hegemony over the past 70 years, the role it has played during the Cold War, and its current position in an ever-shifting global stage, with particular attention paid to Syria, Russia, and North Korea.

"At one time, popular will condoned lynching people because of the colour of their skin, and at other times, it justified robbing people and killing them because of their religion."
Nora Berend, a Catz history fellow, explains the dangers populism poses to democracy, human rights, and the British people. We hope you attend our talk on 15th February for further fascinating insights into Western Populism.

Come join us for our first event!
"Rising support for populist parties has disrupted the politics of many Western societies. It's leaders - the likes of Trump, Le Pen, Hoffer, Farage, and Wilders - have been successful in altering established patterns of party competition in contemporary Western societies, and there is no indication that this political redefinition will come to a halt any time soon.
Is populism to rise inevitably and be triumphant in changing the status quo,... or will this movement come to a crashing stop in the months and years to come?"
