Due to increased business demands at Cavens we have a new vacancy.
Kitchen Porter
30 hours + a week
... Start £7.50 hour increasing to £8.00 hour after successful 3 month trial period.
Duties involve dishwashing, cleaning of large kitchen equipment and pots. Sweeping, mopping and general cleanliness duties expected in a busy commercial kitchen. Deep cleaning of equipment and kitchen on Mondays.
Split shifts including evenings and weekends.
Overalls provided, company pension scheme, free meals for shifts over 8 hours.

We had great steak pies, the service was excellent and the prices quite reasonable.. Highly Recommended!

Was our first visit to this lovely restaurant and will be back.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Meal and service were both first class.

Very busy, staff working very hard, great meal enjoyed it all, great portions, couldn't finish my dessert ! (Which never happens�) Will definitely be back on my next trip to Dumfries.

Lunch today - excellent as usual. I had the very tasty special, mushroom and spinach pasta with garlic bread. I ALMOST managed to clear my plate but, as usual, your large portions won the day and I had to leave the last little bit. Sadly no pint of Old Speckled Hen for me as I was in the car but next time for sure. Lovely to see you all. So welcoming it's like coming home

Lovely friendly staff, great atmosphere and fantastic vegan menu. Portions are on the large size so be prepared to let your belt out. The coconut and garlic mushrooms are to die for! :D 150 mile round trip for us but we will definitely be back (Y)

Its always a regular thing for me coming in here on a saturday afternoon to see the same familiar faces. Have done so since the place opened and rarely missed a weekend since. I always get the sense that im being looked after by the brilliant staff who work tirelessly(even when ive had a fair few haha). And when i decide to have something to eat its always spot on and great value for money. Look forward to many more years to come. Great atmosphere especially when there are big sporting events like the world cup or 6 nations. The regular clientelle are a great bunch and theres always good banter, and they all make new faces feel welcome.

I'm from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and was in the area for a business meeting. Stumbled upon this place purely by chance and happy we did.

The Highland chicken was fantastic, thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were courteous and helpful. All in all had a lovely experience here, thank you.

I was in for the England v Panama game on Sunday. Great atmosphere and lots of fun. Even the anti Ingerland chaps had never seen such a thumping. I know Panama are lowly ranked but if they stopped the dirty dancing the result may have been different. Thank you to the best bar staff for the great service. The ale was five star as always and the complementary chips, sausage rolls and sandwiches were very welcome. All in all a great place to be on a match day. Forgot to mention a couple of Ales at bargain prices £2.20 + £2.30 were a great addition to the biggest proper TV screen in Dumfries. Can't wait til Wed for the Belgium game.

Fantastic place had 2 meals over the weekend, would highly recommend this place 10/10 if your lucky enough to visit on a Sunday try a roast beef lunch with cheesy mash .... outstanding!!!!!!!!👍

Down for a weekend visit, a good all round experience from the food , cask ales and whiskies. Value for money.

Came here for a meal with my mum, sister and my partner. We were out for my mum's 50th Birthday. The food was great, I had lasagne as I always do eating out and it was home cooked and full of flavour. I had also asked members of the staff if there was anything they could do for my mum's birthday. Turns out they can lol. My mum got a surprise when our puddings came out and she had a candle in her cake while happy birthday was playing through the speakers as well as everyone joining in singing!. Staff are brilliant and so is the food. I would recommend coming here. X

Arguably the best pub food eating place in the town. Great range on the menu and great range of draft beers to go with it.

Always go here when we are up always fabulous food friendly staff great value for money. Would recommend to all xx

The staff were friendly and we received good service other than our meal taking some time to arrive after order. The steak pie, gammon steak and burger were all great. Finishing off with a lovely sweet, plenty to choose from. This venue has a lovely atmosphere so definately be back.

Went today, all staff lovely and friendly, meal itself was tasteless chips not cooked properly and omelet tasted of nothing. had apple pie which was cold in the middle. Gin was lovely but cocktail pitcher tasted like fruit juice.
