Central Taxis Edinburgh

Looking like it might poncho weather for the next couple of days. Or for a drier, and slightly more glamorous, arrival to see the shows give Central Taxis Edinburgh a call or Download the App!

Sunday saw teams from Spartans Connections FC and Claremont Colts East Kilbride compete for the annual Central Taxis Edinburgh Trophy.
The tournament saw 6 teams from Spartans and 2 from Claremont come together with the East Kilbride side coming out on top 7v2 in the final against Spartans Youth.
Fortunately for Spartans Youth, Central’s own Dean Hunter is too old to play for them or the margin could have been greater!
... Central’s Chairman Tony Kenmuir was on hand to present the trophy to the victorious Colts.
Spartans Connections FC is the Para football section of Spartans F.C. and welcome players who have a wide range of disabilities including physical and learning difficulties and mental health challenges.
Central Taxis are delighted to be able to assist them in their aim of providing skill and fitness focused training for both adults and youths.

A few days ago I left my cell phone in a taxi.

I called Central Taxis and after making contact with the driver, he kindly arrived back to the restaurant to reunite me with my phone.



It’s good to know that there are still honest people around.

Last night the Central Taxis app was superb! We needed a taxi from my flat at half past midnight to take us up town. There was no problem booking and the cab was here within 5 mins. Driver was great. Coming home just after 2am was just as easy and again a great driver! I've only just started using the app, but if it copes so well on Hogmanay I'm expecting great things! Thanks Central Taxis' for making our trips easy.

Jacci from Central Taxis was a star on Saturday calling me to report glasses left in taxi. Delivered to the house the same day with a text to explain where she had to leave them in the garden! Many thanks, Jacci!😇

If I could give 6 stars or more, I would. I had a great experience today. Together with my family, I took a taxi from the city to the airport, as I was headed back home to Denmark. In the confusion of getting out and finding the way to the terminal, I forgot my backpack in the taxi, and when I realized this, he had already left. I went and talked to some of the other drivers, but they couldn't help, as they all came from different taxi companies. However I left my number with one of them, just in case, and we went on to check-in and through security.



All of a sudden I received a call from your company, that the driver had found my backpack, as he went to get petrol, had rushed back to the airport, and some of the other drivers there, found the guy whom I had given my number, I received a call, rushed back to the entrance and got my backpack back. We made it just in time for the flight, and I would just like to say, how very, very grateful I am to your driver and your company!

I arrived in Edinburgh 9 days ago and have been using this service since. I'm really happy with the drivers that are usually punctual and polite.

Flagged a City Taxi cab at the weekend, and managed to leave my 3 day old mobile lying on the seat. After I realised, I started calling to see if it had been reported to the dispatch team, when the driver came to find me with it. I cannot say thank you enough, and unfortunately I didn't get the drivers name! To go out of his way to come all the way back from another job, and get out the car to come and attempt to find me when I could have been anywhere in the crowds is 5* in my eyes!

Fastest, best and most efficient taxi service in Edinburgh, drivers always go out their way to be polite, professional and we'll mannered not to mention all wearing uniform, top quality service, not to forget as a black taxi company the drivers are equipped with Edinburghs knowledge!

Brilliant service. Very professional and always best to use drivers with experience and great training. Keep up the great work Central Taxis. ;-)

£20 for half a mile!!! Call the cab company to complain and the very rude girl on the phone quotes “tough” then hangs up.

Would like to thank the awful driver tonight who refused us service because he thought one of our friends was drunk.....



After my friend collapsed in the street after our Fringe performance we needed to get him home since it was very cold and windy. He was having a panic attack.... Nothing serious but we needed to get home quickly sonce we live 20 minutes away! On arrival the taxi driver told us that because we were holding up our friend that he was drunk when really he just felt dizzy..... He hardly stopped to let us explain ourselves or what had happened and simply drove off..... This upset my friend more. We were very shocked at this behaviour and very distressed considering we were in need.



Hopefully the bloke will learn not to judge a book by its cover and ask questions before assuming what isn't true. Not impressed

What is the point in giving your name and destination, if the taxi driver will pick up anyone. Half an hour I waited on a booked taxi, to have some other person steal it. And to then call the company again, to be given zero sympathy and to be told that I would need to wait an hour for another taxi. Absolute bull. Will never use or recommended this taxi company again

P58 giving the impression you’ve flagged him down and then pulling away with his light on? App deleted all the 7’s installed.

One of these drivers cut lanes at sherrifhall an right into the side of me denying responsibility for this leaving me with a wedged shut passenger door, an a whole new wheel arch needing replaced, turns out what ever insurance he has has no legal obligation to reply, ignorant horrible man.

It's quite a simple premise: book a cab on the app, they come at the time you ask and take you where you want to go. Unfortunately, Central Taxis have failed to get the first two bits of that premise right with increasing frequency. Either coming at all or getting to you on time. Used to be good, but recently the service has failed me more than once. You can forgive one or two fails, but of late a couple of times I have had to jump in my own car at the last minute to catch a train or plane on time. Tonight's performance was a complete horlicks. Sorry Central Taxis but do you want to compete with Uber or not!

I was heading North on Crewe Road North when a taxi heading East has turned onto this road from West Granton Road partially in my lane causing me to swerve as I approached the junction, the reason .... he was on his mobile. I have called Central Taxi and the call taker has stated he would get a controller to put a call out!!! This is the first time I have had to report a taxi driver, and considering some of the things I've witnessed over the years that is some going. But this was was disgraceful and not a great indication of your company. I observed your logo and the driver who was male, white in his late 40s with short greying hair. Your fleet are tracked, get this driver sorted before he causes a more serious issue.

I flagged one of your taxi's down on Hanover street around 3am as I'd just finished work, everything was ok until your driver decided to divert through a different route, a route that I've never been on. Before he carried on I asked him to take a left at a set of traffic lights to which he replied.. Why!? So I explained that going down leith walk was a longer route and more expensive. As I got closer to my destination your driver became verbally abusive, your driver claimed I was "talking shite" in regards to the same route I've been taking for 4 years and that my route never existed.. Which to me sounds like your driver doesn't know his way around Edinburgh! Then told me to "fuck off" eventually he became quiet once I told him he would be getting reported. I paid by card, received a receipt with central taxis and the telephone number on the back of it, including payment method, TID and MID numbers stated.



I've just got off the phone to "the man in charge" today at 16:38 to file a complaint to which he replied "the receipt isn't ours" and if it is we will get back to you tomorrow. I doubt I'll be hearing anything back from anyone by the sounds of the conversation. As a company serving the general public of Edinburgh, I think you's are an absolute joke of a company and I will be taking this further.

Booked a taxi, didn’t turn up. Called customer service, lady hung up on us. Had to get the bus instead, worst service ever. Get a Uber.

Absolutely shocking service from central! I booked a taxi at 0747 it's now 0910 and no taxi has appeared, I phoned the company and they told me that unless there is a taxi in my area they won't pick me up! Which means that people who are in the streets who haven't booked a taxi are getting taxis quicker than those who have booked how does this make sense?!?!?!?! I asked her to arrange a taxi to pick me up at a certain time and I got told that's not possible as driver the driver won't drive ALL the way to New Haven what the hell!! I'm not exactly miles away sitting in North Berwick I'm in Edinburgh city centre! Very unimpressed!!!



Just to note though that the drivers have always been friendly and accommodating! It's just the way the company prioritises that needs looked at!

After my friend collapsed in the street after our Fringe performance we needed to get him home since it was very cold and windy. He was having a panic attack.... Nothing serious but we needed to get home quickly sonce we live 20 minutes away! On arrival the taxi driver told us that because we were holding up our friend that he was drunk when really he just felt dizzy..... He hardly stopped to let us explain ourselves or what had happened and simply drove off..... This upset my friend more. We were very shocked at this behaviour and very distressed considering we were in need.



Hopefully the bloke will learn not to judge a book by its cover and ask questions before assuming what isn't true. Not impressed

I was heading North on Crewe Road North when a taxi heading East has turned onto this road from West Granton Road partially in my lane causing me to swerve as I approached the junction, the reason .... he was on his mobile. I have called Central Taxi and the call taker has stated he would get a controller to put a call out!!! This is the first time I have had to report a taxi driver, and considering some of the things I've witnessed over the years that is some going. But this was was disgraceful and not a great indication of your company. I observed your logo and the driver who was male, white in his late 40s with short greying hair. Your fleet are tracked, get this driver sorted before he causes a more serious issue.

I flagged one of your taxi's down on Hanover street around 3am as I'd just finished work, everything was ok until your driver decided to divert through a different route, a route that I've never been on. Before he carried on I asked him to take a left at a set of traffic lights to which he replied.. Why!? So I explained that going down leith walk was a longer route and more expensive. As I got closer to my destination your driver became verbally abusive, your driver claimed I was "talking shite" in regards to the same route I've been taking for 4 years and that my route never existed.. Which to me sounds like your driver doesn't know his way around Edinburgh! Then told me to "fuck off" eventually he became quiet once I told him he would be getting reported. I paid by card, received a receipt with central taxis and the telephone number on the back of it, including payment method, TID and MID numbers stated.



I've just got off the phone to "the man in charge" today at 16:38 to file a complaint to which he replied "the receipt isn't ours" and if it is we will get back to you tomorrow. I doubt I'll be hearing anything back from anyone by the sounds of the conversation. As a company serving the general public of Edinburgh, I think you's are an absolute joke of a company and I will be taking this further.

Booked a taxi, didn’t turn up. Called customer service, lady hung up on us. Had to get the bus instead, worst service ever. Get a Uber.

Absolutely shocking service from central! I booked a taxi at 0747 it's now 0910 and no taxi has appeared, I phoned the company and they told me that unless there is a taxi in my area they won't pick me up! Which means that people who are in the streets who haven't booked a taxi are getting taxis quicker than those who have booked how does this make sense?!?!?!?! I asked her to arrange a taxi to pick me up at a certain time and I got told that's not possible as driver the driver won't drive ALL the way to New Haven what the hell!! I'm not exactly miles away sitting in North Berwick I'm in Edinburgh city centre! Very unimpressed!!!



Just to note though that the drivers have always been friendly and accommodating! It's just the way the company prioritises that needs looked at!

I called Central Taxis and after making contact with the driver, he kindly arrived back to the restaurant to reunite me with my phone.

Last night the Central Taxis app was superb! We needed a taxi from my flat at half past midnight to take us up town. There was no problem booking and the cab was here within 5 mins. Driver was great. Coming home just after 2am was just as easy and again a great driver! I've only just started using the app, but if it copes so well on Hogmanay I'm expecting great things! Thanks Central Taxis' for making our trips easy.

Jacci from Central Taxis was a star on Saturday calling me to report glasses left in taxi. Delivered to the house the same day with a text to explain where she had to leave them in the garden! Many thanks, Jacci!😇

If I could give 6 stars or more, I would. I had a great experience today. Together with my family, I took a taxi from the city to the airport, as I was headed back home to Denmark. In the confusion of getting out and finding the way to the terminal, I forgot my backpack in the taxi, and when I realized this, he had already left. I went and talked to some of the other drivers, but they couldn't help, as they all came from different taxi companies. However I left my number with one of them, just in case, and we went on to check-in and through security.



All of a sudden I received a call from your company, that the driver had found my backpack, as he went to get petrol, had rushed back to the airport, and some of the other drivers there, found the guy whom I had given my number, I received a call, rushed back to the entrance and got my backpack back. We made it just in time for the flight, and I would just like to say, how very, very grateful I am to your driver and your company!

I arrived in Edinburgh 9 days ago and have been using this service since. I'm really happy with the drivers that are usually punctual and polite.

Flagged a City Taxi cab at the weekend, and managed to leave my 3 day old mobile lying on the seat. After I realised, I started calling to see if it had been reported to the dispatch team, when the driver came to find me with it. I cannot say thank you enough, and unfortunately I didn't get the drivers name! To go out of his way to come all the way back from another job, and get out the car to come and attempt to find me when I could have been anywhere in the crowds is 5* in my eyes!

Fastest, best and most efficient taxi service in Edinburgh, drivers always go out their way to be polite, professional and we'll mannered not to mention all wearing uniform, top quality service, not to forget as a black taxi company the drivers are equipped with Edinburghs knowledge!

Brilliant service. Very professional and always best to use drivers with experience and great training. Keep up the great work Central Taxis. ;-)

Would like to thank the awful driver tonight who refused us service because he thought one of our friends was drunk.....



After my friend collapsed in the street after our Fringe performance we needed to get him home since it was very cold and windy. He was having a panic attack.... Nothing serious but we needed to get home quickly sonce we live 20 minutes away! On arrival the taxi driver told us that because we were holding up our friend that he was drunk when really he just felt dizzy..... He hardly stopped to let us explain ourselves or what had happened and simply drove off..... This upset my friend more. We were very shocked at this behaviour and very distressed considering we were in need.



Hopefully the bloke will learn not to judge a book by its cover and ask questions before assuming what isn't true. Not impressed

What is the point in giving your name and destination, if the taxi driver will pick up anyone. Half an hour I waited on a booked taxi, to have some other person steal it. And to then call the company again, to be given zero sympathy and to be told that I would need to wait an hour for another taxi. Absolute bull. Will never use or recommended this taxi company again

One of these drivers cut lanes at sherrifhall an right into the side of me denying responsibility for this leaving me with a wedged shut passenger door, an a whole new wheel arch needing replaced, turns out what ever insurance he has has no legal obligation to reply, ignorant horrible man.

It's quite a simple premise: book a cab on the app, they come at the time you ask and take you where you want to go. Unfortunately, Central Taxis have failed to get the first two bits of that premise right with increasing frequency. Either coming at all or getting to you on time.
