Morning Charioteers
Just a friendly reminder that there's an email in your inbox with a link to the post-race survey and a discount voucher for Run4It. We respond to what we receive in feedback - make sure your voice is heard and tell us what you thought of this year's race, warts 'n' all.
Feedback in previous years has led to increased toilet provision and chip timing - we have a fair idea what many will say after this year's race - look out for improvements there too next year, but please, do let us know.

User

Dear all
Please find the chip times from today’s run via the link below. We’ve been massive touched by all the messages of support following today’s event and it’s testament to the strength of community spirit that has built up over the years. That said, we compromised some people’s enjoyment with our actions and for that we are very remorseful. People have a right to be upset but please let’s keep this page the force for positivity it has always been and allow people who fel...t let down to say so should they wish. We’re big enough to take it - we take the plaudits when we get it right so we need to acknowledge when we don’t.
We’ll nail it next year - mark our words.

Dear Charioteers
Some clarification on the race earlier for those who didn’t stay for prizegiving:
As many of you may already be aware there was a miscommunication/misunderstanding with the marshals posted on the course which resulted in them giving the wrong instructions - the course was measured and marked correctly by Fife AC. We acknowledged and apologised at prize giving but realise that many may have left before then and so missed the explanation.
... No one is more disappointed than the small band of volunteers who organise this but we do fully understand and appreciate any frustration some of you are feeling. Please accept our sincerest apologies and we hope you will consider returning to run again next year.
Ben, Su, Ally and Colin.

Liza Scott will be returning to the beach this year to offer athletes a massage to loosen or soothe aching muscles, offer advice and/or strapping. Look out for her in the race village!

User

Just a friendly reminder of how to fix your chips on your trainers. You will be required to return your chip before exiting the funnel at the finish line. You’ll need your medal and race number to collect your beer and doughnut so make sure you return your tag!
Ask at registration if you are still unclear.

Rest up noble Charioteers, tomorrow we run...

This is Arlo.
Arlo is very excited about his first Chariots Beach Race tomorrow. Arlo knows that to be at his best for tomorrow’s race he needs a good night’s rest. Arlo knows that rocking in at 4am like his father this morning will impair his fast twitch muscles, his endurance and his ability to make a sprint finish on the beach in the race.
Arlo is sensible. Be like Arlo.

User

Saturday registration is OPEN (till 1700). Beat the queues tomorrow and collect your RCR number, timing chip and (if you have pre-ordered), t shirt.
Kids register here too - £3.
Registration continues from 0930 Sunday morning down by the Sea Shell Café on West Sands. Last registration at 1130. ... See you soon!

OK folks, this is not hype - we have had over 680 Charioteers sign up so far and now have less than 20 places left. Online entry closed tomorrow at midnight although chances are we will sell out before then. You have been warned...
Race instructions (which are also mostly included in the email you received when you signed up) will go out on Thursday morning - look out for it in your inboxes then.
5 days folks, 5 more days...

User

It’s a family affair next weekend- from the sandcastle competition run by Roseangle House Nursery, through the kids’ race (11 and under - £3 sign up - next Sat or Sunday - for a medal and Jannettas Gelateria ice cream), through to the main race with Fisher & Donaldson fudge doughnut and Eden Mill beer (due to sell out by midweek- genuinely don’t leave it too late).
Arlo (4 months) is excited to become a Charioteer in 7 days’ time. Come and join him. Chariots babygro optional 😉👶

User

We’re fast approaching a sell out - don’t say we didn’t warn you...
See you in seven days!

User

Aerial shot of our racetrack. 9 days folks...

User

Morning campers!
Just a friendly reminder that online entries close in 6 days - this is so we can format the entries for our timing chip whizzes. That said, we’re very close to selling out so please don’t assume you’ll be able to leave it till next week.
FINAL RACE INSTRUCTIONS-
... These will appear here and via email after by Monday- we’re dusting off the email program and brushing away the cobwebs right now. But because you’re an impatient bunch, here are some of the headlines...
Essentially nothing should have changed from the email receipt you got when you signed up. NOTHING will be posted out, so please don’t panic if you haven’t received your race number or pre-ordered t shirt.
There WILL be t shirts on sale at registration if you haven’t already ordered one but we will not be reserving these so please don’t request a specific size at this stage - we’ve ordered what we believe will be sufficient to cope with demand.
Saturday registration unless there is a last minute change of plan will be on the grass outside Madras College on South Street - it’ll be fairly obvious with flutter flags etc. Timings set to be 2-5pm. Sunday registration is next to the Sea Shell café from 9.30am.
Kids’ race - 11 and under, £3 signup, register Saturday or Sunday - no online reservations for this. Fee gets entry into 1 mile race, medal and ice cream.
More as we get into the groove and race week comes into focus.
Stay strong, oh happy band of pilgrims, and see you all very soon!

Less than 3 weeks to go... and guess who's back on board for Chariots of Fire Beach Race 2018??
A massive thank you to Eden Mill who are once again sponsoring our race. This year, runners will be rewarded with a bottle of their delicious 19th Brew... 'a pale golden ale...bright and clear...a mild malty tone which gives way to a slight citrus note...' brewed right here on the banks of the Eden Estuary. Yes. Please. https://www.edenmill.com

Very well organised race from the registration on Saturday to the trophy presentation on the Sunday.

A stunning setting too. Will definitely be back next year!

User

This was our 1st time at the event and we had an excellent time, both children ran in the 1.5k and loved it! (I think the promise of the ice cream at the end helped one!). The weather was perfect aswell, looking forward to seeing some of the pics when you put them up. Thanks from The Johnston family.

Set to be one of the biggest and most loved running events in Scotland. So many unique elements - the incredible location, the iconic outfits, barefoot running on sand, incredible donuts and a free beer. What's not to love?

User

My first ever race.. was nervous but excited! Great organisation, parking beside the registration , and a very straightforward route on the beach alongside the lovely sea. A well earned fudge donut after to celebrate my success at finishing! Happy day.

User

My first ever race and enjoyed every minute of it all 44 of them lol. Raising money for a colleague made it all the more special. All my years as a student in St Andrews this was my first time on west sands and I can think of no better reason to be here.

User

Loved every minute of this race, so pleased with my time of 30 mins25 seconds(not bad for a 67 year old)! Huge thanks to the organisers! Will be doing it again next year hopefully! Great day!

User

Had a fantastic day. This was my first race here. It was well organised and relaxed and so friendly. The band was good as was the fudge doughnut and beer. Look forward to returning next year!

User

Great race. Well done all the runners but a special thank you to the organisers and helpers who made it very special. Loving the commemorative saltire top.

User

Great organisation, friendly people, iconic run. My first beach race and a wonderful event. Thank you to the many organisers you did a great job. Beer, donut and special music from the Black Sheep Society rounded off the event, what more could you ask for?

User

Great fun, fabulous location and such a relaxed event. We will be back

User

Great event, first official 'race' and enjoyed the day, lovely atmosphere - worth the 18 hour round trip from Bedford :-)

User

Great event organization and overall attitude -- it's a local, low-key event, with an appropriate emphasis on fun. Cheers for a great day out, the wonderful roster of sponsors, the beer and donut on finishing, and especially the kids' 1-mile race. The wee ones I know who did it had an absolute blast (aided in no small way by the gorgeous 2014 weather).

User

First time at COFBR and enjoyed every bit of it. Very well organised from start to finish. Look forward to next year. Cheers.

User

Fantastic run, I think next year I will aim to get there really early and enjoy the atmosphere. It also had the feel of an American beach run, which made it even better!.

User

Fantastic run for all the family. Our third year and we can't wait to get signed up for next year. Not to be missed. Thank you to everyone involved.

User

Brilliant run yesterday loving the kids race too brought a tear to the eye. Very well organised and loving how most people stayed for the presentation. Thanks for the lovely medal, beer and donut at the end.

User

Brilliant as always, well done Ben & team! Xxx
