The nights are drawing and there's a definite chill in Glasgow, so, in honour of her birthday, here is Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh's Winter.
Margaret was born 5th November 1864 in Tipton, near Wolverhampton. Her family's move to Glasgow would prove life changing for Margaret as both she and her younger sister Frances enrolled at the Glasgow School of Art. There they met like-minded, aspiring young women who were inspired by the social and political emancipation happening a...round them.
An accomplished and celebrated artist in her own right, Margaret would become a driving force in Mackintosh's career. They often signed artwork together, they would send pieces abroad to great acclaim and Margaret would sell work in the UK while the pair lived in France.
Happy birthday Margaret!

This society seems to be loyal to CRM’s vision and goals. This enables the influence of his style, and talent, along with his wife Margaret Macdonald, to continue to make its mark on the world. I for one, am grateful.
