Hello resonator officiandos some pics of a reso i made a few years ago it was one of three made in maple fitted with quarterman cone and brass nickel plated cover from a guy in the U.S.A. owner wanted me to retro fit my new logo to it. Iwas pleased to see it after so many years and to see how the spruce top had mellowed in to that lovely honey colour all in all it has aged nicely and sounds really good cheers Euan @ chattanluthiery

Someone posted a question about a mahoganay banjo rim on BPU so ithought to put up these pics as my contribution to the debate that will no doubt follow this is the Chattan Luthiery open back 5string i am working on at the moment it was a Victorian table in another life lovely brazilian mahogany really deep dark couler the neck has some figureing which will show better when laquered it will also have the 5 th string running full length from the nut 5 pegs on the headstock ...so anyone wanting a banjo for all seasons can convert to 4 or tenor or concert and can be capoed all the way withou the having issues with spikes or 5th capos and can be switched to a lefty by simply changing the nut and strings around will also have a two way truss rod as i will use nylgut but it is perfectly capable of using steel strings as well i will eventually try to post pics and sound shot when finished in the new year cheers and enjoy life

Right about now i am discovering all sorts of new old ideas methods and tools and interesting inventions in the art and wizardry of banjo making and the inventive skills of some makers is amazing stuff the Jigs and such like are really cool but neck making jigs are my thing at the moment as i have a few necks to shape up in the next 2-3 months as my pictures show a lot of rasping chiseling and scraping going on the overhead pin router is looking better everyday hope to have it set up soon and will post results when ready .Meantime cheers from Chattan Luthiery
