Toujours Jules! The only place in Edinburgh that is perfect for a swift, inexpensive but delicious lunch, but equally suited to a very special occasion. We love coming here.

This my second visit and it certainly won't be the last.

Good honest French cooking at great prices. £7.90 for 2 courses.

A la carte with fabulous dishes on offer.

Love the atmosphere. Felt a bit rushed to begin with but other than that I am a fan.

Staff lovely .

Our first visit to this lovely friendly place. We were second in as they opened but it was nearly full within 30 minutes! Easy to see why as the food was really special. We didn’t have much time so only had the one course lunch option but it was wonderful. My husband had the steak frite which he really enjoyed and I had an extremely tasty and authentic coq au vin with mash. The cost was £5.90 per head!! Would thoroughly recommend and we will definitely go again.

Lovely lunch with friends. I would definitely recommend chez joules.

Had a wonderful lunch! Great food and friendly staff. Highly recommend!! Will definitely be going back again soon.

Had a fantastic meal at Chez Jules on Hogmanay. We were a bit disappointed not to be told there was a set New Years menu but the food itself did not disappoint. Excellent value, delicious and served by very friendly and helpful staff who tried so hard to deal with our very large and rather demanding party. Great atmosphere as always.

Had a beautiful lunch here yesterday with two friends. It was my third or fourth time here. The set menu is amazing and such good value for money! The house wine was a great accompaniment to wash it down with. Kir royal and cheese board where also fantastic ..

only tiny gripe was the wobbly table ( by the fire exit) apart from that ( which isn't really a gripe ) loved our lunch .. can't wait to come back

Friendly staff, amazing food, great atmosphere... it worth it the 30 minutes driving just to park the car ;-)

First time in Chez Jules and had some lovely food. French onion soup then mussels and french fries. My husband had the black pudding dish followed by the steak with dauphinoise potatoes. To my disappointment he ordered crepe suzette....he loved it, I had hoped for the sticky toffee pudding....my favourite! Next time I'll just need to order pudding too and stop thinking about my waistline. Lovely staff, attentive but not intrusive, reasonably priced. What's not to like?!

First time at Chez Jules. Had lunch with 3 girlfriends and the food was amazing. Complementary dressed salad, olives with bread and butter on the table on arrival is a great gesture. House vino was fine too, in fact we ordered a 2nd bottle. Will definitely be back with my hubby.

Fantastic rustic and authentic French restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh, friendly staff and delicious food. Lunch time special is extraordinary good value - magnifique!

By far some of the best food I've had in my entire life, and never broke the bank! The staff was incredibly friendly and well versed in the menu and the Coq au Vin was to die for! I would highly recommended this adorably quaint and candlelit restaurant to anyone staying in Edinburgh!

User

Awesome authentic tasting food for really reasonable prices, especially the lunch menu. You get a basket of bread plus meat, olives and salad, as soon as you sit down! Great relaxed atmosphere. I went with 3 hungry, tired teenagers and they came out very happy

User

At only £5.90 it was amazing value for such a delicious lunch. Full marks to all the waitresses and behind the scenes kitchen staff for providing such excellent, fast and friendly service today.

User

A first timer to Chez Jules unlike my Scottish BFF. Extremely busy and noisy, but loved it as it added to atmosphere. Had the 2 course set menu - chose the pate and the coq au vin...both delicious and washed down with a lovely chardonnay. Booking recommended especially at this time of year. Just one tiny thing for me....and I know they were run off their feet, but a smile from some staff members would have been nice instead of a brusque manner. Still...look forward to returning and working my way through their menu.

Nice place, nice service, great food at a reasonable price! However music can be too loud, and avoid tables close to the kitchen, as it is too noisy!

User

Great place however, the snails really needed more flavour. Mainly salt. They were quite bland. Everything else was fantastic. I brought a friend from Paris and I was so hoping there was a French person there to talk my friend through the dishes but not one person was French, not even a chef so I was disappointed but they still cooked brilliant French food. 🙂

User

Came for a New year meal and it was fantastic! The place was manic but the food great. Returned a day later for lunch and that to was great. They have a special 2, 2 or 3 course lunch menu.

User

Beautiful friendly atmosphere and staff , just asking for a drink only they were more than attentive / food looked amazing .

The toilets let the place down badly . Better ventilation and a good cleaner would pay dividends . Otherwise excellent so 4 stars
