Chiene + Tait is an independent firm of chartered accountants offering accountancy, taxation, and business solutions services.

Chiene + Tait was founded in 1885, in Edinburgh by George Todd Chiene Jnr and John Scott Tait. Mr Chiene had a family littered with prestige, including family members who won mathematical prizes at The Edinburgh Academy, the first President of The Scottish Rugby Union, Chair of Surgery at Edinburgh Infirmary and Honorary Surgeon to the British Forces. John Scott Tait came from more humble stock of cabinet makers and bakers, and rose through the ranks to become a senior partner to create the firm. Messrs Chiene and Tait were widely regarded for their knowledge of accounting and commitment to furthering the education of others – a principle that is still true of our firm today.

With a heritage of over 130 years working with a range of clients. We consider our firm to be innovative and adaptable to our client needs, and our independence has helped us to make sure we deliver a quality driven, cost effective service. Based in Edinburgh with further offices in Inverness and London, in an increasingly regulated and legislated environment, Chiene + Tait can offer a resourceful and flexible service due to the depth and breadth of knowledge within the firm. The partnership consists of over 120 staff and 10 partners who can help not only with the technical advice expected of any quality accountancy firm, but can also provide niche services such as specialised VAT queries or advice on heritage assets.
