Attended the one week course as a beginner with no previous experience, and left with 3 things I made from scratch! The teaching is very practical based with no fluff, it's just demonstration and then action, with the tutors on hand to help if you need it. The 1 week course has lunch built into price daily and we had home cooked meals in the principals home each day, which is part of the property. The principal Ansel is very eccentric and enthusiastic man and that rubs off into the atmosphere, I really enjoyed the vibe of the place and how incredibly kitted out it was with everything you'd need to make and restore pretty much anything your mind can create. If you're looking to start making and want a place to give you a baseline understanding and get lots of hours of bench time (including cutting, sanding, joining, joints, finishing, measuring, turning on the lathe, French polishing, shellacking, upholstering and short daily lectures on design/woodworking principles) then you'll get a tremendous amount of value out of the week course. I'm going to save my money now in hopes of going to the intermediate next year and pick up a deeper understanding.
