About Myself

I graduated from The University of Aberdeen with a BSc Chemistry (Hons) degree with the intention to return to do my PGDE Secondary, which will start in September 2016. I am will be gaining experience within the classroom in the new year at a local school to get an insight into the new curriculum. This is not only for teaching in the future, but to also gain the best knowledge for students that I will be tutoring. I love Chemistry and have a passion for sharing knowledge and teaching /bringing out the best in others. I have experience from tutoring in the past and all I can say is that it was and still is a rewarding experience seeing the change of confidence build up in my students and their passion for the subject grow.
As a student of karate I understand what it is like to be in amongst learning something new and sometimes hard. I also appreciate the pressures and worries that come with exams, as I grade throughout my training. Self-motivation and self-discipline are key to success and what you want in life you must work hard to achieve and believe in yourself. “As you think, so you shall become. ” I would like to think that with this I can help my students achieve the best that they can be and increase their confidence.

What I provide

• I hold a PVG for working with children. ID. 1511 1230 2870 0388. I would prefer to tutor at the student’s home.
• I am First Aid certified
• I would like to meet with both the student and parents /guardians face to face to discuss what is required per session etc. and just to introduce myself. This obviously comes at no charge and I would offer the first session for FREE to ensure that the student and parents /guardians are happy with what is being offered.
• I am volunteering as a classroom assistant in a local school to gain experience of the Curriculum for Excellence and so can provide tutoring relating to current units.
• I have current textbooks and past papers for National 5 and Higher at the moment and provide handouts, crib sheets, homework and jotters as part of my tutoring fees.
• I charge £15 per session (1 hr) for up to National 5, £25 per session (1 hr) for National 5 and £30 for Higher. I will offer Advanced Higher (£35) sessions depending on requests that come through for students. I will buy Adv. Higher text books, chemical model kits etc. for students if I get the offer of 3 or more for Adv. Higher and offer tutoring then. Please note that fees will DECREASE if the number of students increase, but will not change otherwise on what is agreed.
• The student can cancel sessions if sick at no charge, unless it is more than 3 in a row. However this can be discussed depending on circumstances.
• The student can cancel tutoring at any point, as no contract is held.
• NOTE: If parents /guardians are happy with being shown chemical reactions, which would just be from kits you would buy from local shops then I can do this if it will help the students interest etc. This can be discussed.
