Glasgow is renowned for the hospitality of our people and the Italian influence on our food plays a huge part in that. Italian friends and neighbours have influenced the food cooked in household all over Glasgow since the 1950s so minestrone soup and lasagne became as much a stable as scotch broth and haggis throughout the city.
Cissie learned to cook Italian family favourites from her neighbours Beatrice and Bruno in her first home in the Gorbals where she moved when she got married after the war. Her whole life she loved to cook for family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than a house full of people sharing food, drinks and patter. We want to bring the warmth of Cissie’s kitchen to the Merchant city as a location for everyone to share time with family and friends with a menu inspired by the fusion of Scottish and Italian that has shaped Glasgow.
